Before modern electricity was common, pieces like this lit homes, hallways, and late-night conversations.

In the 1920s, many buildings still relied on lanterns just like this, especially in coastal towns like Biloxi.

Simple. Functional. Essential.
And somehow… still beautiful.

It’s a sun helmet 👀

More specifically, a style you’d easily picture on someone like Ernest, practical, well-worn, and ready for wherever the day leads.

Sun Helmets or Safari Helmets were super common in the early 1900s, especially for travel and exploration, worn by military, adventurers, and yes, writers like Ernest during his time in warm climates. It became kind of a symbol of that rugged, outdoorsy, world-traveling lifestyle.

This one will find its home in The Ernest, a space inspired by exactly that kind of story.

Everyone’s drinking margaritas today… but this came first

During Prohibition, Americans crossed into Mexico and discovered tequila for the first time.

One of the earliest cocktails they brought back? The Tequila Daisy.

Simple. Citrusy. Slightly sweet.
And the beginning of what would eventually become the margarita.

The Belvedere Tequila Daisy
2 oz tequila
0.75 oz fresh lime juice
0.5 oz grenadine
Top with soda water

Shake tequila, lime, and grenadine with ice.
Strain into a glass and top with soda.
