We do tours of the Apostle Islands Ice Caves that are outside the NPS boundary at Roman's Point, Chequamegon Bay and Red Cliff.
Meyers Beach, inside the NPS boundary, likely won't open to foot traffic this year, but our tours likely will.
Every photo we post leading up to February 1st will be photos from previous years ice cave tours. All of our ice cave tours take place outside the NPS boundary. These are not photos of the Meyers Beach Ice Caves that are inside the NPS boundary. Meyers Beach has the best ice caves but the AINL rangers won't allow ice cave tours at Meyers Beach. So, we go to smaller ice cave locations outside AINL jurisdiction. Meyers Beach has not been opened by the AINL rangers since 2015, our tours have operated every year for the past 5 years.
These are photos of ice cave tours from previous years, they are not from this year and are not meant to imply any type of ice conditions from this year. As we get closer to February 1st we will start to post conditions reports for 2023 ice caves.
If you're looking for lodging for the ice cave tours we suggest washburninn.com, www.lakesuperiorlodge.us, and legendarywaters.com, based on their proximity to the ice cave tours.
