🇺🇸✨ Did you know Lancaster was once the capital of the United States — for one day?

On September 27, 1777, the Continental Congress met in Lancaster while fleeing British forces during the Revolutionary War, briefly making Lancaster the nation’s capital. 🏛️

Lancaster’s importance didn’t end there. By 1789, the city was even proposed as a possible permanent U.S. capital. Revolutionary War officer and Lancaster leader General Edward Hand submitted a plan for a federal district centered around Lancaster, highlighting the city’s strong location, surrounding farmland, skilled tradespeople, and reputation as a welcoming crossroads.

Lancaster County has long been shaped by its markets, farms, workshops, churches, neighborhoods, and generations of people bringing together old traditions and new ideas. ❤️🌾

🍁 Wondering when the leaves will start changing for your upcoming stay at AmishView Inn & Suites? Pennsylvania is expected to stay mostly green through September, with color beginning to appear in parts of the state by late September and early October. Most areas are expected to see their best fall color in late October into early November.
