*** Come Join Us for the Spring Camp Service Day ***

Come One, Come All! Join us for the Spring Camp Service Day at Ross Rhodes Reservation starting the morning of Saturday, March 15. (See details below.)

We'll start bright and early with camp tasks aimed at improving the grounds and forests. We have several chores to do. Many hands make light work so be sure to bring your friends who like life in the outdoors.

Tops on our list are to inspect our freeze-proof valves and water lines before spring camping begins.

We also will fell some small trees and collect the cut wood into piles. There may be some leaf blowing and mowing, too.

We'll also do any other maintenance work we need to tackle -- while breathing the clean wilderness air and enjoying a pristine view of Lake De Gray.

Do you want to make a weekend of it? Camping this weekend is highly encouraged.

We have RV camping sites available. We also have tent camping sites, too.

As a bonus, we'll also provide a hearty noon lunch for those volunteers who come to help us. Lisa Smith promises to serve her best camp meal ever.

So collect your gear, fuel up the truck and come join us at the most pristine property on Lake DeGray. See you there!

Camp Service Day Saturday, Oct. 5

Come and join us for the Fall Camp Service Day this coming Saturday, Oct. 5, at Ross Rhodes Reservation. We'll start on tasks bright and early at 8 a.m.

We have many chores to do, including cleaning up trees and working on the freeze-proof valves, among other things.

Please wear work clothes, bring bug spray and wear sturdy shoes or boots. Message or call us if you'll be staying for lunch, so we can have an accurate headcount.

We had a very successful service day in July when we installed several new valves up and down the camp water line. We also traced and found a leak, oddly not in the new water line but in an old faucet connected to it.

RIP Rick Holland (1954-2024)

We are sad to share the news that a giant of our Ouachita Area Council and Ross Rhodes Reservation has passed, Rick Holland of Benton, Ark.

Rick volunteered tirelessly as a scoutmaster and later offered leadership at the district and council level.

He continued to show active support for the mission to keep our camp open to campers and relished hearing word of its revival.

Please keep the Holland family in your thoughts and prayers in the days and weeks ahead. Information about the Friday, July 19, visitation and funeral appears at the side and bottom of the obituary.
