Many of you followed along as we built our newest cabin, Whispering Pine. Then one day…we stopped posting updates, and we never added it to our rental lineup.
So here’s the story.
Whispering Pine was originally intended to be another rental cabin. But life has a funny way of changing plans.
Over the years, our friends, Richard and Suzanne from Texas became regular visitors at our place. They spent countless hours helping us build, create, and dream. Little did we know they had always loved this little corner of Arkansas just as much as we did from their first vacation together in 1991.
What none of us expected was that Whispering Pine would become their future retirement home.
They had already invested their time, energy, and hearts into the cabin. They knew they wanted to leave city life behind someday, and an opportunity came along that none of us had ever considered.
After more than 30 years of turning down offers to sell pieces of our property, this one simply felt right.
So today, Whispering Pine belongs to them—contents and all. Every Cowboy-and-Indian treasure, every carefully collected piece of decor, and every little detail that made the cabin special found people who appreciate them as much as we do.
You may have also notice a garage or a few new projects as the years go by. Don’t worry— everything at Lone Cedar Cabins will continue operating just as it always has. In fact, having wonderful neighbors nearby helps us stay here and keep doing what we love.
When Richard and Suzanne aren’t here, they don’t mind guests walking past the Whispering Pine on the trail. We just asked that everyone remember it’s now someone’s home. Feel free to admire the Cowboy-and-Indian charm, but leave all the treasures right where they are. (Cowboys, may borrow horses, but not yard decorations.😉)
After all these years, we finally have neighbors…and we couldn’t have asked for better ones.
Have you ever had a place capture your heart so completely that you change your plans to be there?
