Many are looking at spending time during October in the great north Georgia mountains while others are looking ahead. Yes, October is a great time to come to the mountains but November is still considered fall and the weather is perfect for snuggling beside a great fire. You will also find events and festivals planned for families during the fall month of November. After Thanksgiving the Christmas tree farm, Southern Plantation, opens for selecting your fresh tree to take home for the holidays. Then of course the lights for Christmas are once again turned on in our charming downtown square and old county courthouse for the month of December.

Consider this your reminder that you need to book your cabin at Cabins at Highland Falls before you miss out on the beauty of autumn and the fun of Thanksgiving in the mountains. Our family loves to hold Thanksgiving in the mountains because it provides an opportunity to enjoy being together for an extended period and to experience a variety of outdoor adventures. One thing we always do before everyone heads back home is our “Great Pumpkin Roll”. Each grandchild takes a turn to see who can get their pumpkin to roll the farthest.

If you are staying in our cabins for Thanksgiving or just after you can stop by Southern Plantation Tree Farm and cut down your own Christmas tree to take home for the holidays. The tree farm is located just a few miles from our cabins but they don’t open until Thanksgiving.
