It took me about 2 hours to do just this section. Yikes! We are finding rotten wood around windows and having to replace that too. I don't know if we will reach the goal of prepping in a week, but we are going to keep chipping away!

House scraping. This is a picture of the current state of the house--peeling. We have not done any scraping yet. I took a week off work with the goal that we can scrape and prep the house this week so that Kyle can begin painting it next week.

Prep for painting. We are beginning to do the prep work for painting the house. Yesterday, Kyle replaced these boards. The previous ones were rotten and pieced together with scrap wood. This is cedar, which should last longer, and is one continuous piece of wood. In addition, these spaces between the windows were hollow inside. He placed some insulation in there to help with climate control.

A God story. Several months ago, I noticed that there was not much water coming out of the faucets of the chapel. I searched in the yard to see if there was a puddle from a busted pipe, searched the building for a water pressure regulator, etc. I tried everything I could think of and was afraid that when our pipes froze last winter that a pipe had burst under the slab of the building. That repair would entail digging through the floor of the chapel to the pipe and tens of thousands of dollars. I had been stressed about this for some time. I prayed and prayed. One day, I went out to the chapel and walked circles around the building praying about the water pressure. Finally, we made an appointment with a plumber for this week. However, last weekend one of the guests at the wedding approached us about the water in the sinks. He was a master plumber. It turned out that the minerals in our well water had clogged the aerators. It was a $5.00 fix! We are so, so thankful for that answer to prayer! Literally rejoicing.

Wedding. We felt so much joy this weekend watching our property being used to make a very special memory for so many people. The weather was perfect. The band was amazing ( ). The fanciest potluck food ever. Yard games being played from one end of the property to the other. Just a wonderful celebration.

I haven't been posting much, but we have had a lot going on. Last weekend, we were finishing up some final airport runs picking up international students and had a bridal shower in the chapel. On Sunday, we were a part of a picnic in Bryan Park for international students. Starting on Monday, we have had mothers, who are moving their kids into college, staying in our bnb. On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, we volunteered at the Furniture Give Away (FGA) for international students. Starting tomorrow, we have a wedding on the property, so we are also trying to get everything into ship shape. (Kyle has been building a ramp from the chapel to the new paver patio.) On Saturday, we will also help deliver furniture for the FGA. Add a full-time job and a few family things and church things in there, and you have a pretty good picture of our week!
