Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers have returned to Georgia for the winter! ❄️

According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Yellow-belled Sapsuckers are known to use human-produced materials to amplify their territorial drumming, i.e. gutters, street signs, and metal chimney flashing, much to the chagrin of many homeowners.

Thanks to enhanced padding inside their heads, the sapsuckers suffer no ill effects from whacking their bills repeatedly on metal, and many will return to a favorite metal object day after day to pound out their Morse code-like message.

Best Airbnb I’ve stayed in! So intentional, all the little QR codes and the “extras” were so cool. Plenty of towels, the beds were so comfy, we felt totally at home. I don’t feel like you could add or change anything else to make it better - it’s perfect!
