- Faith is the only mechanism available for God to favor us. It can not be hope, chance, heroism, virtue, good works, stature, kindness, love, sympathy empathy, prayer, or anything else imaginable. The reason behind this notion, is based on two main points. The first being that God is not a respecter of man. The second being that every one of the virtues or reasons mentioned and even all those not mentioned are subservient to something outside of itself. A secret If you will. And sometimes, a dark secret. A secret that can’t exist in the light, so it puts up a false pretext of a virtue. In other words, all the efforts one makes to receive Gods favor, from hope to prayer and everything between, can and does have a secret motivation. We pray to receive something. We hope things will go a certain way. Faith is the only authentic unbound effort we can make that acknowledges the futile nature of our natural motivations and desires. Faith exacts a price. That price is surrender. It is the realization acknowledgment, and action of a broken heart and a contrite spirit. It is the outright giving up of our earthly motivation and desires. It says “thy will be done”. All other efforts, are the public facing campaign of some selfish motivation and endeavor to receive the glory of man. The natural man to be specific. As for its counterpart, the virtuous non believer is driven by a type of narcism that says I’m better than you because I care about people and the planet with or without the silly and irrational need for a creator or purpose of existence. In some senses, they are correct. It is laudable that they can just except the void and still counter the natural instinct to survive at all cost and by any means necessary. And still adhere to the nebulous notion that good and bad can be measured and serve a meaningless purpose. It is morality that saves a dog that has fallen through the ice, even at the risk of the rescuers own life. That action is a direct violation of self protection and survival, and a betrayal of the science of evolution. That is what evolution asks of life. Survival at ALL and any cost. Survival of the FITTEST. Some may ask or suggest “why faith”, or even it’s more elementary question of “why do we NEED faith”? These are two distinctly different questions. As to the latter, “why do we need faith”. That answer is complex and simple at the same time. Simply put, we need faith to receive Gods favor. The complication comes from the journey you must take to decide if Gods favor has a role in your life. Many people have conclude the extremes to this question in one moment and have done polar flips in the next. As for me, I have all but concluded the answer to that question. The only thing left for me to do is endure to the end. Now the first and more complicated question of “why faith”? As in why is “faith” the thing? As you invest in the understanding of existence, you will eventually be forced to comprehend the concept of God, because that is a hard stop, for anyone who can not clear that hurdle. If you can not comprehend the concept of a creator, you can not go any further. The reason that is such a difficult hurdle and impassable for so many, is because, if you can’t comprehend God, you can’t comprehend yourself. If you can’t comprehend yourself, you will end up seeing yourself as an animal evolved by time, mutation, and environment. This is the dead end of all non believers. I call it a dead end, because that theory can not escape two main facts. The first is, you do get to the end. The end of your life, The end of this planet, the end of the stars. The moment the sun burns the earth up, as it dies. Far before that time, We will all have died. There will be no survivors and our story will be done. Our collective knowledge, history, lessons, art, inventions memories and every trace of our existence. It is only a matter of time. The second consideration is the fact that there is no meaning to it. It is just what happens, given all the perfect conditions such as the right size star, with an orbiting planet that has the correct amount of water, and the right distance and core composition to protect the planet from the suns radiation via magnetic fields , a planet with a moon that affects those magnetic poles, and the earths gravity, rotation, and orbit at the proper speed to support and to sustain weather patterns that allow life to take root and evolve. It would happen 100% of the time those conditions exist. However frequent this happens is irrelevant. The relevant part is that it is a process, and it is impartial to everything except those specific conditions, and it has no meaning. This sets up the battle of the two sides. If you choose a creator, there is SO much work to be done. You need to sift through all the information, data, and evidence. You will need to consider what the purpose must be. Often the answers are in complete contradiction to our idea of right and wrong. What would God have us know? What would God have us do? What is God’s purpose, What is God’s plan? I can’t seek, ask, or answer these questions for you, and to make it even more difficult, the only answers you will ever receive, are the ones to the questions you ask. So, if faith is of no concern for you, you will not receive the understanding that is objective and waiting to be earned and found. If you do care to understand, I can only state what I have discovered. Faith is the means and method of receiving Gods favor, because it grants God the window he needs to favor each of us as individual sovereign beings. In other words, it puts and keeps all of us on a level playing field. It doesn’t matter if you are a billionaire or a prisoner. A drug addict or a loving parent, we can all exercise faith in any and every condition and circumstance. Faith is blind. It is not encumbered by bias or judgement. There is no social or ethnic requisite for faith. Exercising faith does not make you better than anyone else, and if you don’t have faith, it doesn’t make you worse than anyone else. It exists under its own terms, and it is always there to be accessed. If God were to favor an individual for their lineage, or pedigree, or royalty or sainthood, or charity or love, success or achievement, it would destroy the idea that we are all loved equally by him. Equality can coexist with poverty and wealth, health and illness, royalty, and plebeian with faith being the access to God. It is free and never hidden. It is only by our own individual discovery that we will learn and gain a testimony of this eternal truth. -Moses
