We are getting a lot of calls about the red tide. We've all heard, "Don't eat yellow snow," and now we can add, "Don't swim in red water."

I am not making light of the impact to affected areas. But qualified sources all agree that the algae bloom is isolated to patchy spots along the coast, not the entire area. Since we always advise caution near bodies of water, our advise hasn't really changed. If one spot on the beach is affected, move on down a barrel or so and chances are you'll be in the clear.
