Jasmine and I had our gangsta lean going in that 103° heat on the shrimp boat today. 😎🦐

I snapped some of the best photos we’ve ever taken together. Added a little pink commentary and voilà… perfection!

Who’s really running this boat anyway?

Interesting 🧐

Legendary Houston angler Gus Pangarakis, right, with a 551 .lb Goliath Grouper that he caught while fishing from Bettison's Pier on Galveston's North Jetty. That's right: he hooked and landed this fish with a rod and reel right there on the coast. At the time, it set state and world records as the heaviest of its kind taken on rod-and-reel. The world record stood until it was surpassed by a 680-pounder caught in 1961. Gus caught many tremendous fish from on Galveston's piers and jetties, including a tiger shark that weighed more than 1,000 pounds and a sawfish that was 14'7" long and weighed 736 .lbs. Gus joined the U.S. Army during W.W. II and later became a firefighter in Houston. Sometime in the late 1940s, Gus went bay fishing on a boat with a buddy and the boat capsized. I'm not sure if the buddy drowned or not, but for whatever reason Gus never fished again. As a lifelong fisherman, that strikes me as sad. Gus died in 1980.
