Laurelwood is at a higher elevation than our other cabins in the Blue Ridge Mountains, which means Spring comes a tad bit later for it. So when I wake up on a chilly March morning I like to look back at some of my pictures of the Spring flowers that I know will be coming soon!

The iris, rhododendron, fern fiddlehead, and columbine pictures were all taken in May, so if you have a reservation coming up, make sure you look around for these beauties 🌸🏔️

The Blue Ridge Mountains are home to many beautiful species of Spring wildflowers! Here’s a few spots to visit to enjoy the Spring show:

Grandfather Mountain: With an elevation change of over 1,000 feet from base to top, you have a longer window of opportunity to see bright pink rhododendron shrubs in bloom.

Roan Mountain State Park: Several trails, including a few paved ones, means that you have a lot of options for hikes through wildflower meadows!

Bass Lake Loop: With a gravel surface manageable for most strollers and wheelchairs, this .9 mile loop is lined with rhododendrons and mountain laurels and is perfect for the whole family.
