🐾 Paws in the Park 5K is back! 🐾

The Foundation for the Boone Area Humane Society is hosting its annual Paws in the Park 5K on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the beautiful Iowa Arboretum! 🏃‍♀️🐕🍂

Bring your dog, bring your family, or simply come enjoy a beautiful morning outdoors while supporting homeless animals in our community. Every registration helps the Foundation provide food, shelter, medical care, and hope to animals at the Boone Area Humane Society. ❤️

⏰ Registration: 7–8 a.m. — no mass start, so start when you’re ready!
💲 $30 through October 4 | $35 after
👕 Register by October 4 to guarantee your T-shirt!
🐶 Can’t attend? Choose the $30 Lazy Dog option and support the cause from home!

Day-of registration is welcome!

The Boone County Hospital Foundation is partnering with the Boone girls' swim & dive team for Project Be the Light: Swim Against Cancer on Thursday, September 17, during the swim/dive meet against East.

🗓️Thursday, September 17
🕐Meet begins at 5:30 pm

All proceeds support Project Be the Light, a Boone County Hospital Foundation program that provides financial assistance to Boone County families facing hardship due to a cancer diagnosis.

There are several ways to support the event:
👕Order a Swim Against Cancer T-shirt
T-shirt orders are due by Tuesday, September 8.

🏊‍♀️Sponsor a swim or dive event
Event sponsors will be recognized during the meet and may sponsor in honor or memory of someone affected by cancer.

💜Make a donation
We'll also pass the bucket during the meet for those who would like to give.

Every lap, every dive, and every dollar raised helps shine a light for families right here in Boone County.✨

Big improvements are on the way for Ledges State Park! While it's never easy to temporarily close one of Boone County's most treasured destinations, these upgrades will create a safer, more accessible, and even better experience for everyone who visits.

From smoother roads and improved parking to enhanced accessibility, the wait will be well worth it.
