Happy World Book Day!
Right next door to The Godfrey sits Brattle Book Shop, founded in 1825 and one of the oldest and largest antiquarian bookshops in the United States. Three floors of used and rare books, an outdoor sale lot, and the kind of place where you walk in for ten minutes and walk out an hour later holding something you didn't know you needed.
We're genuinely honored to have them as neighbors. If you're staying with us or just passing through Downtown Crossing today, stop in. It's worth the detour.

Today, Godfrey Boston is cheering on one of our own!
Kristi Desness, our Senior Sales & Events Manager, bib 33576, is running the Boston Marathon today alongside her friend Amanda McGoldrick, bib 33502. We couldn't be more proud of her dedication, grit, and heart.
Kristi is already looking ahead to the NYC Marathon in November 2026, where she'll be running in support of Next Step — a Cambridge, MA nonprofit that empowers teenagers and young adults living with chronic, life-threatening illnesses. Through mentorship, connection, and community, Next Step helps young people move from "why me?" to "what's next?"

Marathon Monday is the best day of the year in Boston, and our team would not have it any other way.
This year, we have an extra reason to cheer.
Kristi Desness, our Senior Sales and Events Manager and one of the most beloved members of The Godfrey family, is running Boston for the very first time tomorrow. She has run marathons before, but Boston is Boston. There is nothing quite like it, and she has earned every step of this one.
Our entire team will be out there with her in spirit, and we will be making plenty of noise when she comes through.
