Well, the day has arrived. This morning at about 10AM, Cathy and I closed on the sale of Boulder Bear Motor Lodge. It has been a wonderful 8 years.
My goals were simple when I retired from Rolls-Royce and retired into the ownership of Boulder Bear Motor Lodge. I wanted to live in Boulder Junction, I wanted to run a small business so that I could employ people, I wanted to become active in the community, and I wanted to build and improve the business. And of course, make some money along the way.
I would like to think that all of these objectives were accomplished, at least it feels that way to me. I leave happily satisfied, but still a little melancholy. But, excited for the next Chapter.
It would not have been possible without you, our guests, who in some cases, became friends. We want to THANK the thousands of guests who came through our doors and stayed with us during our time as owners. It was a real pleasure hosting you, meeting you, and getting to know the regulars.
I hope you will give the new owners the same chance you gave me, to earn your trust, and become that go-to lodging choice in Boulder Junction.
I guarantee you, the Patel Family will carry on the great Boulder Bear Motor Lodge hospitality experience, and already have some ideas on how they can continue to bring improvements to the Lodge. Sam, Usha, and Sam Jr. now have the reigns. Sam and Usha have been here since June 20, pretty much running the show. From India, England, Texas, and other places, they have a great story to tell, and I will let them tell it. (Hint: they are not novices to the hospitality business arena).
Cathy and I want to wish Sam (the Wisecracker) , Usha (the Firecracker) and Sam Jr, all the best. We have become quick friends, and you will likely see me around from time to time at the motel (we are staying in town). Can't wait to try some of Usha's home cooking.
And last but not least, we have to thank the Brousil Family for being my primary workforce for 8 years. It is Ginger that has been the driving force behind the 'clean' motel that you have come to expect from BBML. Ginger, Kevin, Summer, Alexandria, and (mamma) June. THANK YOU more than you know. (Ginger is staying on). To all the local and foreign workers I have had through the years, Thank you too. I hope I was a good Boss, and you enjoyed your time with us as much as I enjoyed you all.
Peace my friends, and Thank you
