There are some goodbyes that deserve to be celebrated.

One of the best parts of White Birch Village has always been watching families return year after year.

The Secrest family is one of those families.

For the past 36 years, the Secrest family has made the journey north, creating memories around the lake, in their cabins, and with friends who have become family.

This summer marks the end of that chapter. After decades of treasured vacations, Dave and Patti have decided it's time to retire from the long drive north. While we'll miss seeing them pull into the Village, we're incredibly grateful for the many years we shared together.

One of the greatest privileges of caring for White Birch Village is watching traditions grow across generations. We don't take it for granted that families choose to spend their summers with us—year after year, decade after decade.

Dave, Patti, and the entire Secrest family, thank you for 36 unforgettable summers. Thank you for your friendship, your loyalty, and for becoming part of the story of White Birch Village.

We will miss you dearly, but you will always be part of the Village family. ❤️

When you stock your library with ALL the books from an Amazing "Local" Author - and guests start coming to the front desk and thanking me for the recommendation...my heart is full and SO happy for Author J.L. Hyde ❤️❤️❤️ (Notice one of the Grady Lake books is out in one of the cabins right now lol). Thank you, Jamie for blessing us last September with your book signing weekend. The guests are loving your books!

Sharing the Celebration of Life video that was made for my mom's funeral. I HIGHLY recommend the music of Acapeldridge (G.M. Eldgridge). He records each part himself. The video opens with an original hymn he wrote and recorded based on Revelation 21:4 "And God shall wipe away every tear..."

Posting this for all our guests who would like to watch my mom's funeral. My mom planned it with my sister Sue. They did a really nice job. It was a good day of celebration. Thank you to everyone who reached out with a text, email or mailed a card to us. We appreciate all your touching words.

For all of you who have been coming to WBV since mom and dad opened the doors in 1982, you know how much heart they poured into making WBV a peaceful setting for people to come and rest. And then my sister and her husband kept their dream alive for the last 19 years.

My dad passed away in Sept 2016 and never got to see the continuation and future of the fruits of his labor. My mother spent one last summer up here last year - marking her 84th summer coming to this resort.

And now, she lies in a hospital room living the last few hours of her earthly life surrounded by the family she and my dad were so very proud of. Please keep our family in your prayers as we sit by Carol Malmgren’s side waiting for Jesus to take her home. She’s ready to go dance with Jesus and the love of her life - Richard ❤️

We know White Birch Village would not exist with all the wonderful guests who return year after year. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your loyalty and love you have shown our family in the last 45 years.

John and I, with God by our side, plan on seeing all of you well into the future. God Bless All of You 🙏🏼✝️🏡🌲

Let the melting begin! John took the skid steer bucket and started to dig into the once 12 foot pile of snow to help with the melting process. Hoping the 60° and 70° weather we have coming will help!

See the second picture to see the results! We came back to 80% of the pile gone! Wowza.
