The Old Bourbon Hotel

We’ve heard a few rumors floating around town lately, so we thought this would be a good time to clear a few things up and give everyone a little update directly from us.

Recently, it was mentioned that renovations on the hotel would be starting soon. While we wish that were the case, it will still be a bit before we get started on renovations. With the cost of materials, labor, and resources today, restoring a building like this is no small undertaking. When we do start, we want to do it right. Our goal is to restore it to its full glory.

Right Choice Investments purchased the hotel in 2024 and is still the current owners. After our family saw the potential in the building and fell in love with the idea of someday bringing such an important piece of Bourbon’s history back to life. We never took into consideration any ordinances that would hinder the future plans for the building. We have also not fought against any municipality in regard to regulations that could hinder our plans.

We also want to give a BIG thank you to those in the community who continue to keep an eye on the hotel for us. ❤️ Being an empty historic building, it unfortunately tends to attract some unwanted attention. We’ve dealt with break-ins, trespassing, graffiti, and other issues over the last couple of years. So when someone calls, messages, or lets us know they’ve seen something that doesn’t look right, we truly appreciate it. Please continue to keep an eye out and let us know when something needs our attention. It really does help!

We know people are curious about the hotel—and we’re actually glad you are. It means people still care about this old building and want to see something good happen with it.

And when that day finally comes, this page will be the first place we announce it.

When renovations eventually begin, we plan to document the whole journey and share it right here—the good, the bad, the surprises, the history we uncover, and hopefully one pretty incredible transformation.

Until then, thank you for caring about the Historic Bourbon Hotel, for keeping an eye on it, and for being excited with us about what its future could someday hold. ❤️

Hey everyone! I know we haven’t posted in awhile but we still have so much excitement for this journey!

We are currently looking into finding a Grant Writer and learning more about how that could help us get started. After some searching, it seems that you find the best ones through referral. If you know anyone please let us know!

Hey everyone! It has been quite a while since our last post…. Around April 11 if I’m not mistaken. Since then, we have had a lot going on away from the hotel. We have started a private Christian school called Yahweh Academy . To say we have been busy is an understatement. Long story short, please stick with us as we are going to try to start updating this page more frequently. Our plan stays the same to restore the old hotel. It’s going to be a long process but we are excited to take this venture. We have included a picture of the back of the building this time with a freshly cut yard! Thank you to everyone who has messaged about how to help… we appreciate each and every one of you! Have a great evening everyone!

We finally made time to stop by the local lumberyard, Bremer Hardware and Lumber Co. This was our first time meeting Mrs. Bremer and definitely will not be our last time stopping in to hear more from her. Listening to her stories was simply amazing. One of the main pieces of information we received today was we were misinformed of the correct year the hotel was built. Mrs. Bremer informed us that the hotel was in fact built in 1881! We can’t wait to stop back by and learn more about the history of Bourbon and the old hotel.

Included is a picture from a book that Mrs. Bremer helped write in 2003.

Good morning all you Bourbon Hotel loving fanatics! If you haven’t heard yet, the old hotel made the newspaper for the first time in quite a while (and I’m sure it won’t be the last). We will be doing some cleaning on the inside soon and I will update with some interior pictures. Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement of this project we are so blessed to be a part of.
