🦀 Stone crab season opened TODAY… and Cortez is already cracking! 🦀

Did you know? Stone crabs live from Texas all the way up to the Carolinas, but Florida brings in almost the entire commercial harvest. People fly in from all over the world for these claws… and we get them fresh off the boat right here in Cortez. Even better, only the claws are harvested. The crab goes right back into the water and grows a new one in 12 to 24 months!

Happy Property Management Day 💙🌴

Today is really about saying thank you.

Coastal Breeze Getaways is family owned, locally operated, and very much boots on the ground here in the Bradenton area.

We could not do what we do without our incredible team and trusted local partners.

Our cleaners, maintenance crew, pool companies, lawn teams, contractors, photographers, designers, repair pros, and everyone behind the scenes play such a huge part in caring for the homes we manage and the guests who stay in them.

We are so grateful for every person who shows up, solves problems, takes pride in their work, and helps us care for these homes the right way.

We are also incredibly thankful for the families and vacationers who choose to stay with us. Thank you for trusting us with your time away, your family trips and the memories you come here to make.

For us, being local has always meant being present, staying connected, caring for the homes we manage, supporting our owners, and respecting the neighbors and communities around them.

John and I, along with a few other local STR owners and managers, coordinated a small meeting with one of our county commissioners to talk about the possible regulations being considered for short term rentals.

And here’s what I want STR owners to think about…

If you own an Airbnb here and have someone else managing it for you, make sure you’re working with the people who are in rooms like this.

Because this crew isn’t just getting into the rooms.

We’re creating the rooms.

We’re having the conversations, asking the questions, sharing what actually happens on the ground, and advocating for the owners whose properties we manage.

Property management is so much more than answering guest messages, scheduling cleaners and collecting bookings. It’s also about being a good neighbor and respecting the community around you!!

A good manager should also be paying attention to what’s happening behind the scenes that could directly impact your investment.

John and I are incredibly grateful for every owner who trusts Coastal Breeze Getaways with their property and for the vacationers who travel here, thank you.

🚨 Manatee County wants to limit vacation rentals to no more than 12 guests, no matter how large the home, and penalize owners with no real due process. It hasn't passed yet. Here's how we stop it. 👇

🛡️ CALL TO ACTION: HELP PROTECT RESPONSIBLE VACATION RENTALS IN UNINCORPORATED MANATEE COUNTY

🎯 Our Goal: 500 personalized emails to the Manatee County Commissioners before the July 28 County Commission meeting.

As many of you know, We have been leading the effort to help shape the proposed vacation rental ordinance for Unincorporated Manatee County. While we recognize some regulation is likely to be adopted, our goal is to ensure it is fair, balanced, and focused on bad actors, not responsible homeowners and businesses.

Until now, we've mostly worked with the Coastal Breeze Getaways family and clients of The Short Term Shop. Today, we're asking the ENTIRE community for help.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?
At a recent County Commission meeting, Commissioner Bob McCann introduced a proposed vacation rental ordinance with concerning provisions, including a 12-person occupancy limit regardless of home size and significant penalties without meaningful due process. That proposal wasn't adopted, but the Commission directed staff and the County Attorney's Office to begin developing a new ordinance. The good news: there's still time for our voices to be heard.

WHAT WE'RE DOING
We've partnered with Denis Hanks and FAVR, the Florida Alliance for Vacation Rentals, to work directly with county staff and elected officials on what fair regulation should look like. Rather than simply opposing rules, we're advocating for proven, operator-friendly policies (like those in the City of Largo) that protect neighborhoods AND respect private property rights.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Commissioners hear complaints about vacation rentals all the time. What they don't hear nearly enough are the stories from responsible homeowners, cleaners, pool companies, landscapers, contractors, Realtors, and guests whose lives have been positively impacted by responsible vacation rentals. YOUR story matters.

We've put together a free Community Action Guide with a quick overview, tips for writing an effective email, sample letters you can personalize, and contact info for every commissioner and the County Attorney.

Vacation has no bedtime. ☀️

Do you stick to bedtimes when you’re on vacation?

We sure don’t.

This morning, Mom (me) gets to enjoy a little peace and quiet, and this little guy gets to sleep until he’s ready.

No alarms.
No rushing.
No “we have to leave in 10 minutes.”

Just vacation.

That’s our favorite kind of morning.
