Try this with your power band while in line for Mine Kart. Tap the medallion on the statue and if someone at the second statue taps their band, the ceiling lights up! Bands are $45 in the park, we rent for $15.

This post is All About Rain!

As I sat through a classic Florida afternoon rainstorm yesterday , I thought I’d share a little perspective as a 3rd-generation Florida native. One of the biggest weather adjustments I had when I went to college out of state was how different rain works here.

In Florida, our cooler Atlantic air meets warm Gulf air in the afternoon, and storms often pop up around the Central Florida/Orlando area. The good news is they usually move through pretty quickly. So when you see a 60% chance of rain, it usually doesn’t mean gray skies all day, it often just means a quick downpour for an hour or two.

My best advice: watch the sky and have a good weather app. If the wind picks up, the air feels damp, and the sky starts getting dark, a storm is probably on the way. That’s a great time to hop in line for an indoor ride or grab a snack at a restaurant. Diagon Alley is also mostly covered and a fantastic place to hang out during afternoon showers.

It’s also smart to pack ponchos, dry socks, and rain shoe covers. My family is pretty tough, but we all get very whiny when our feet are cold and wet! Universal does sell ponchos in the park, but they’re about $20 each (I learned that the hard way).

So if you’re visiting Florida anytime from now through November, don’t panic if rain shows up in the forecast. Just keep your feet dry, wait out the storm, and enjoy every minute of the parks!

It was a pleasant surprise for my family, and specifically a sigh of relief for my parents, to have an experience originally blocked by an expensive paywall figured out (without putting the pressure on themselves or anyone else)! My family and I enjoyed the mini games in Super Mario to the fullest thanks to the relief and availability of Wizards and Plumbers. This set of pots is on my to do list next Epic visit. There’s two tower of copper pots and as you cast the spells the pots light up and put out mist. I can’t wait to race my husband to the top and prove I’m the faster draw. It’s especially awesome at night so make sure you stop by!

Power up bands is a cool, new interactive aspect of the universal parks. So far, they are only compatible with the Super Nintendo Worlds in the parks.

The bands can't be used outside of the parks, so when they're home, they act as a big, heavy wristband.
