Peak color around Branson runs roughly October 10 to 25. Head up Highway 76 for the west-facing overlooks near Kimberling City, or stop at the free Inspiration Tower at Shepherd of the Hills for a 360 degree view.

Then drive back to the vaulted ceilings, the kitchen island, and the wood-burning fireplace, which is back in season mid-October. The hot tub is outside, and so is the best part of the evening.

We've always loved this nearly 100-year-old stone home, and the hillside gave us room to add a second living room under the open sky. The new deck stretches out above the trees with plenty of seating for lounging, drinks and long conversations, and the lake and sunset views come with it. There's a big outdoor dining area for the whole crew, a fire pit gathering spot for when the air turns crisp, and a private hot tub with the sauna just steps away. A winding hillside walkway ties it all together.

The new outdoor area is the part we're proudest of. We also refreshed the lower-level bathroom with a glass-enclosed shower and a lighted makeup mirror, so getting-ready mornings are covered too. 😉

Leaves are turning, the roads are quieter Sunday through Thursday, and we still have midweek nights open across all five cabins.

Fewer crowds means an easier drive to the overlooks, an easier table at dinner, and a hot tub that's entirely yours.

If your schedule is even a little flexible, midweek is the move.

Hollister's Grape & Fall Festival is Saturday, October 10, and historic downtown Hollister is right by Unplugged.

Our plan if we were staying: coffee on the porch, a slow stroll through the festival, then back to the cabin for the hot tub and a record on the player.

Branson Landing is only a mile away if you want a bigger night out. Do the festival, then do nothing. That's the right ratio.

Cliff Haus just got a brand new outdoor area, and October is the right month to use it.

Squatch Watch puts you close enough to drive it in an afternoon and still be back for a soak in the hot tub before dinner. There's a stretch every fall where the days are still warm enough for the hot tub and the nights are just cool enough to want a fire going.
