As we continue to celebrate , we're taking a look at Breckenridge around 1876. As the silver boom began in Leadville, many Breckenridge residents were doing double duty. For example, George Washburn headed for Leadville in 1877. There he prospected and located the Scooper Mine. By 1881, he was back in Breckenridge as president of the Bank of Breckenridge! He was also a member of the Rexford Mining Company which owned claims on the Rochester King and Rochester Queen in the north fork of the Swan River.
