Earlier this month (January 2026) I traveled, with my brother Tom, to Arizona for some family sibling time and seek the photo opportunities of the Superstition Mountains, Sedona, and Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. This image of a dead juniper tree and the West Mitten was taken from the valley drive in Monument Valley. Monument Valley is a fascinating place and well worth the admission price to the tribal park and valley road.

One of my favorite photos from 2025! While on a 2-week trip to southern Africa, we were fortunate to see, up close & personal, the white rhinos at Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, Livingstone, Zambia, Africa. There are only 9 white rhinos in Zambia and they were moved here from South Africa to protect them from illegal poaching. They can only be viewed on a walking safari with armed guards.

The name "white rhino" comes from a mistranslation of the Afrikaans word "wyd" or "wijd," meaning "wide," referring to its broad, square lip for grazing, not its color (they're gray).

I recently had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Katie Thiel and Alex Welch. Katie's dad, Mike, was my college roommate and it was great to work among long-time friends. It was a great location and everyone was super pleasant to work with. I was honored to be asked to capture all the moments of their special day. Congratulations Katie & Alex!

Light shining through giant sequoia trees. I photographed this, and many more of the giant trees on a photography trip (October 2025) to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks in California. It is very humbling to be in the presence of such majestic living things some of which are thousands of years old yet very disturbing to see so many that were destroyed by logging in the late 1800s and thousands killed by wildfires in 2021.

Bodie Island lighthouse immediately after sunset. I photographed this while waiting for dark and the milky way to appear. We visited the Outer Banks for several days in September (2025) in between storms and I was able to capture some pretty good moments at various locations along the Banks./
