Thank you to all our family and friends for sending positive thoughts and prayers our way. We spent the morning cancelling our next 4 reservations due to the unimaginable devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. We were worried about the condition of our home, but more importantly the safety of our neighbors. It was a true blessing to hear they are safe!

We received an update from our neighbor who was gracious in walking our property to report no external damage. We hope to start cleanup once it’s safe to travel and we won’t be taxing an already taxed community. As of now, ALL roads to our community are impassable. The grocery distribution center is underwater. Lines wrap around the couple gas stations that are operating. Downed trees and power lines cover the roads. Roads are completely washed away. Landslides cover the roadway. As our neighbor said, “it’s complete devastation”.

Please continue to send positive thoughts and prayers to our neighbors and community for safety and relief.

Hello Fellow Squirrels!

One of my last posts was about the CFPOA changing rules regarding STRs in our community. I’m happy to report that after months of mediation, we’re able to continue renting as we were before! The process was incredibly stressful and the details of the final outcome wasn’t our ultimate desire, but our group rallied together and made an impact!!

During that time, we hosted more guests than we expected! Our calendar was packed with only 6 available days over 4 months. We’ve noticed a shift in the lead time for bookings and already have part of next summer booked. If you’re a returning guest, we’d like the opportunity to host you again first. Please reach out with your request. I’m happy to help!

On a more positive note, look at this raving review from a sweet family we recently hosted! I love that they gave us additional feedback privately too. Their recommendation was to add an EV charger. This is something we had already been discussing and hope to add in the future! So, be on the lookout for this new feature! ⚡️

Good morning fellow Squirrels! We want to be transparent and let all of our guests, past, present and future, know how hard we’re working to keep our beautiful home in Connestee Falls.

This week, all CF homeowners were contacted by the CFPOA stating CF would no longer allow short term rentals under 30 days. This is the decision of a group of residents that rallied together to impose these changes without the knowledge or input of ALL community members and especially those it severely impacts the most.

What does this mean for The Squirrel’s Nest?

-If enforced, we can no longer enjoy our 2nd home as we’ll be hosting longer stays.
-It limits our ability to rent as the market demands, which is shorter stays as most guests are unable to travel for or afford a 30+ day stay.
-It could eventually lead the the sale of our home. This is not happening right now and if you know us personally, you’d know we’d do everything in our power to honor any future bookings regardless of the circumstances.

What happens if I’m already booked for a future stay?

-The community is allowing all 2024 bookings as long as they’re booked on or before 12/31/23.

What can our guests do to help?

-Write a letter to our board members letting them know your experience as a guest of The Squirrel’s Nest and Connestee Falls.
-Book a future stay now! If you know you’re traveling to Brevard next year and want to stay at The Squirrel’s Nest or any property in Connestee Falls, then secure that stay now.
