Some helpful information from Twin Lakes Resort about necessary boat inspections.
Golden Mussel Update - hey everyone! We’ve been getting some questions about what the process is going to be to help stop golden muscles from entering the Waters here in Bridgeport, Twin Lakes and the Eastern Sierra. Department of Fish and wildlife is working to set up stations for inspections throughout the area by the opening day of Fishing season. The process will be quite easy when you arrive in the area. You will simply stop by one of the inspection sites. They will confirm that your boat is clean and clear. You will get a free sticker and then you proceed to launching at whichever lake you plan to fish. There is no cost associated with this. The important thing is that we do protect these amazing fisheries and that we do stop possible contamination from boats that may have been put in Waters where the mussels are present. We appreciate everybody’s patience, and as soon as we know the hours and locations of the inspection areas, we will be sure to let you know. We would like everybody to understand that the reason that Twin Lakes is the trophy fishery that it is is because of the presence of a lot of of the bait fish that the trout live off of, and these muscles can directly affect the population of bait fish and ruin the fishery forever. So please be sure that you clean, dry and decontaminate your boat and all of your fishing gear before arriving in the eastern Sierra. Can’t wait to see everybody this summer. Please also note that we will not allow uninspected watercraft to be launched at our marina. 🎣
