The wait is finally over! We promised a spring surprise, and here it is, Tarry A While’s newest addition: Chickadee Cottage!

In Maine, the chickadee symbolizes joy and curiosity, making it an ideal namesake for a place designed for exploration and relaxation. Not to mention, the chickadee holds the distinction of being the official state bird.

We can’t wait to welcome you back to the resort this summer and have you be among the first to “nest” in our newly named Chickadee Cottage. There’s something truly special about Maine in the warmer months—the morning song of our state bird, the fresh pine air, and the slow pace of life by the lake. Whether you’re a longtime guest or visiting for the first time, we’re counting down the days until we can open our doors and share the quiet charm of the Chickadee with you.

The wait is almost over! We’ve spent the last week diving into all your amazing suggestions for our newest addition. You all truly made this such a tough decision.

After reading through all the incredible ideas, our owners had a lightbulb moment and landed on a name that felt like the final piece of the puzzle.

While the official name came from a bit of internal inspiration, we were blown away by the creativity right here on our page. One submission in particular perfectly captured Tarry A While’s character, and we couldn’t let it go unrewarded.

A huge congratulations to our social media runner-up, Nancy Martin, with “Loon Cove Cottage.” You’ve won a complimentary dinner for two at one of our lobster bakes this summer. It’s our way of saying thank you for being such a wonderful part of our community. Thank you to everyone who took time to participate in the contest!

As for the name itself? We’re keeping that under wraps for just a little bit longer. Keep an eye on our page for the official reveal this spring.

We know, we know…earlier this week felt like a spring dream in our neck of the woods. However, Mother Nature decided we needed one last winter hug.

Right now, the resort is in a deep thaw. It’s definitely mud-boot weather on the grounds today, but we love this phase because it means the ground is waking up. Every puddle is proof that our colorful gardens and green lawns are just around the corner.

We’re busy behind the scenes getting everything ready for our first “I Dos” of the 2026 season. The transition might be a little messy, but the destination is going to be spectacular. The bloom is coming!

While we are currently closed, our calendar is open for wedding tours! Come visit and see the resort as it wakes up for the season and begins its stunning transformation. Will we see you for a tour this spring?

We’ve laid the groundwork, and now we’re on the hunt for the perfect name!

Our newest cottage is taking shape at Tarry A While, and we’d love for you, our favorite people, to be part of its story and help us give it a name. We’re on the lookout for something that captures the spirit of our classic town and reflects the beautiful, natural surroundings - a name that feels like home.

If we pick your suggestion, you’ll not only get bragging rights for naming the cottage, but you’ll also win a free dinner for two at one of our famous lobster bakes in July!

To enter:

1. Comment below with your favorite name. Feel free to enter multiple times!
2. Share the inspiration behind the name (optional, but we love a good story).
