Top 3 Easy & Scenic Hikes Around Olympic Wanderer Cabin-Brinnon WA🍃
🌲 1. Steam Donkey Loop-Dosewallips State Park
Distance: ~2.9 mi round-trip
Why it’s great: The 3.5 mile Steam Donkey Loop Trail is an especially good choice in spring, with lots of creeklets, views of the Dosewallips River and silent forest. There is a strong chance that you will see wildlife in winter and spring, since an elk herd resides in the area, and with the estuary so close, the area is rife with bird-life. As an added bonus for fall hikers, you can search for and pick chanterelle mushrooms.
Travel perks: Trailhead is located in Dosewallips State Park campground and is a $10 day use fee to park and access trails. This is located just 10 minutes from the cabin.

🌊 2. Staircase Rapids-Olympic national Park.
Distance: ~2.1 mi round-trip
Why it’s great: Staircase Rapids is a beautiful 2.1 mile loop trail following the North Fork of the Skokomish River.
Visitors here will enjoy the Olympic old-growth forest with a lush understory of mosses and ferns. As a loop, it’s hikable either way, but this route describes a clockwise approach.
Travel perks: Located in the staircase region of Olympic national Park just outside of Hood sport, this is one of closest access points to Olympic national Park from the cabin. You will enjoy beautiful views of Lake Cushman on the drive to the trailhead.
💧 3. Rocky Brook Falls Trail
Distance: ~.3 mi round-trip
Why it’s great: Super-short and wheelchair/stroller-friendly, this charming trek features lush old@forest growth with a cascading stream along the trail. Great for kids or those aiming for a quick nature escape with a picturesque waterfall (~25 ft).
Travel perks: easy quick 10 minute drive from the cabin.
