October is in full swing! The leaves are changing to fall colors, the wind is picking up, and big brown trout are feeding heavily as they prepare for the upcoming spawn.

Mark is no stranger to catching big brown trout on the South Holston! His annual fall trip included both nymphing and streamer fishing, and both techniques paid off. Check out this beautiful brown trout he landed with guide John Stunkard yesterday! Rumor has it, it only took three drifts to seal the deal with this awesome fish. Way to go, guys!

Joe is an experienced angler who was hoping to land a big brown trout, but he wasn’t expecting one quite this size!

This beautiful 27” brown trout put up an incredible fight, and with some great tips from guide John Stunkard, they were able to net it. What a fish!

The trout are loving these temperatures in the 70s, and the fishing has been great. Just be sure to bring a jacket in the morning, there’s definitely a little chill in the air.

The 10-day forecast is looking great, see you soon!

Will and John’s first time fishing the South Holston River with guide John Stunkard was an absolute blast!

For both of them, it was one of their first experiences fly fishing, and they not only learned a ton of fundamentals but also got to put those skills to work. Will even hooked into this huge brown trout!

Sean’s annual trip to the lodge was another success! Fun was had, fish were caught, and the highlight of the trip was some awesome brown trout! Guide Brandon Barbour put Sean’s group on some great fish!

With temperatures dropping into the 70s over the next 10 days, you can definitely feel fall in the air. There’s nothing quite like this time of year on the river. See you soon!
