Sometimes a senior comes to me with an idea and we get to make a little magic happen. This time, the request involved a boat, flowers and something a little different for her senior pictures. One of my favorite things about senior photography is taking an idea and figuring out how to make it happen. Sometimes that means a little planning, a little creativity and a whole lot of help from some wonderful people. For this session, we headed to The Honey Hole, one of my Senior Edition 2027 partners, and what a beautiful setting it gave us! Between the water, the flowers and that gorgeous dress, we ended up with something that feels like it belongs in a storybook. I always tell my seniors to bring me their ideas. The simple ones, the elaborate ones and even the ones that make me wonder how on earth we're going to pull them off. Because senior pictures should be about more than standing in a pretty location and smiling. They should be about creating something that's uniquely you. There is a honey so rare that it will never crystallize in your jar, and almost all of it in the world comes from one wild Florida river. 🍯

Along the swamps of the Apalachicola River in the Panhandle grows the white Ogeechee tupelo tree, and for a few short weeks every spring it bursts into bloom. Beekeepers float their hives out on platforms and barges into the flooded forest to catch that narrow window, because the pure honey the bees make from those blossoms is unlike any other. It is pale gold, buttery, and famously so high in fructose that it stays liquid and smooth for years instead of turning grainy.

Making it is a gamble every single season. One badly timed flood or a late cold snap can wipe out the bloom, and keepers have to pull the hives before other flowers mix in and ruin the purity. The whole tradition is passed down through a handful of Panhandle families, the kind of slow, weather dependent craft that is getting harder to find anywhere. 🐝

Real tupelo honey is one of those quiet Florida treasures most people drive right past, a taste of a wild river bottom that you cannot fake. If you have ever had the true stuff, you never forget it. Have you tried real Apalachicola tupelo honey, and could you taste the difference?

One pic of Alissas bridal bouquet because that’s all that’s needed! 🤍

Beautiful light pinks mixed with touches of dried dark brown, and we called it a day! For a simple wedding, this bouquet paired with that beautiful dress just set the whole look over the top.

I got to create not only this bridal bouquet, but three other bouquets and two boutonnières for the whole family that became one on this special day. 🤍

Wishing them nothing but a lifetime of love and happiness! Thank you so much for choosing me to play a small part in such a special day.
