HAPPY AUTUMN DAYS! Oklahoma has slammed us again, going from hot hot summer to winter with barely a breath in between! SUCH IS LIFE in OKLAHOMA!!

Our latest encouraging news is that we are working to gain a beautiful abandoned church building sturcture that would be available for both Knight's Rest events AND to be used by our local community for celebrations such as baby showers, aniversaries, birthdays etc. Might even be able to offer it as a wedding venue with our help or available for a small fee for a DIY wedding!

Today I receieved a follow up call from the son of the original pastor(and builder of the building) and we are working on negotiations now as to how this could transpire! Our plan is to move the building, do the renovation(the roof is leaking now so will require immediate action to preserve the structure.......

I love old buildings and want to preserve the history of the builder and pastor who constructed the building and continued to be a pastor until he was 100 years old! We will be needing financial assistance with this project and as soon as we know we are the destiny of the wonderful old structure we will share details and costs so everyone can share and be part of this awesome project!

SO say a prayer, keep fingers crossed, send positive thoughts........this would be a wonderful addition to the resources available for our community and for Knight's Rest Retreat!

I'm not going to share photos or details yet untill we know that we will be the future home of the great old church building.

We do have a house mover that has offered to assist us in the move of the building and there is another small structure that we may be able to convert into a couple cabins for Knight's Rest.

Thank you so much for your continued support of our retreat! Looking forward to your next visit! COME SEE US!

Our most recent guests at Knight's Rest have packed their camping gear and returned to their mundane lives after a wonderful five day camping gather. What an awesome group of new friends who came to rest and play in the beauty of Oklahoma wilderness. A little rain made things slippery to start then as the weekend progressed, perfect camping weather punctuated with some of the most beautiful sunsets ever viewed from this little piece of heaven.
Thanks to all who worked so hard to make this event a success! We welcome you back and look forward to this gather becoming a yearly event...maybe twice a year?!?!?!
Funds raised will go toward getting our big farm truck back on the road so we can haul gravel for driveway improvement and for materials to build a new entrance gate that won't try to fall over or jump on top of all who enter.....More photos in photo album.....

Putting together a prepping class for October. Will be a Bug Out Bag test run class. A weekend class with an excellent instructor, former Green Beret, S.E.R.E military instructor. Sign up sheet will be posted as soon as we confirm dates. This will be a small personal class so that everyone can feel confident that their questions matter! We will have a tent available for "classroom" activities or to offer shelter if the weather is less than wonderful. Primitive camping with porta jons and flush toilets available. Limited cell service so this is a "BUG OUT" after the SHTF event trial run. Prepare to be disconnected and LEARN! Cost for the class will be minimal. Working on details and some door prizes. Also will have some survival items and products available for sale.

Something I want to honor here at Knight's Rest is the Native American history connected with this land. We are the first owners to ever live on this land as it was Indian Allotment land since forever......and in fact heirs of those people still own the mineral rights to this land....
Would really like to create space for a sweat lodge and found some great information on why and how...We are open for suggestions, assistance, INPUT? Will be doing something similar to this: http://www.muiniskw.org/pgCulture2d.htm

The sweat lodge ceremony is one of the most common ceremonies practiced by Native American people. Sweats may be conducted as a preliminary to other activities, such as a fast. Sweats may also be done for healing. The purpose behind all of these, however, is simple spiritual cleansing. The lodge is…

Have been working on paperwork for our non-profit. Our request from IRS to recognize our Oklahoma non-profit status arrived at the IRS office during the government shut-down and is evidently lost in the paperwork snaffoo. Finally gave up on that application and am in process of submitting again since current applications are going through fairly quickly compared to our lost in the Abyss paperwork. SO although I'm excited to get our 501c3 status, the process is daunting...However, if the prediction on approval is true, we will be "official" with the IRS in a month or so.
WHOO-HOO!

WE have green grass again! AND our new ZTR mower is awesome! So when you plan your next event here at the retreat, you won't have to worry about the weeds and overgrown camping areas.......we not only have the new ZTR, we also have a wonderful old Allis Chalmers with a Woods belly mower from my dad's estate to handle the rough stuff(blackberries etc).

Working on negotiations with our survival skills instructor. Plan to meet with him face to face this coming week so we can figure out when to do our first class. We will keep you posted on the progress as we work out details.
Most likely will be a full day Saturday class with lunch served here at the retreat. We have access to several thousand acres of wildlife management land and river bottom land so have lots of options for learning edible wild plants, medicinal plants, basic survival and more!
