No sooner did the Travelling Gavel arrive at Friendship #763 in Broadway..it was on its way again! At our Stated Communication on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, we were visited by the Brothers of Mt. Vernon Lodge #143 in Bonlee. Nine brothers visited and took the Travelling Gavel home with them. WM Talbott presented the Gavel to the members of Mt. Vernon Lodge.

Friendship Lodge #763 in Broadway supported the Broadway Elementary School Accelerated Reading Program with a two bicycles for each grade. The Awards Ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at the BES. Each child was awarded a bicycle and a helmet. This was a great success this year acknowledging the hard work throughout the year for these ten boys and girls. We look forward to supporting this great initiative in the future.

The Travelling Gavel returns to Friendship Lodge #763 in Broadway! Friendship Lodge #763 travelled to Palmyra Lodge #147 in Dunn and attended their Stated Communication on Tuesday, 5 May to take control of the Travelling Gavel. We were met with two surprises. First, Angier Lodge #686 also arrived to take possession but with only 8 members, our strong attendance showing won the night. Second, The Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of NC., MWB Steve Norris made an official visit and provided wonderful masonic insight. He also presented the Travelling Gavel to Bro. Garland E. Smith, PM, PDDGM, WM Michael Talbot, and the members of Friendship Lodge #763. It will be proudly displayed in the Lodge. What a great night of Freemasonry!

Friendship Lodge #763 members travelled to Raleigh to visit and have lunch with Bro. Ron Klepper. He is currently living at the Brookdale Senior Living Facility in Raleigh, NC. We travelled to meet Bro. Klepper, who provided us a tour of the facility and we had a wonderful lunch including a chicken salad croissant, french fries, onion rings, fruit salad, cheese cake, and beverage in the private dining room. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the visit! Bro. Ron showed us his room and his masonic wall. Bro. Klepper even introduced us to another Freemason living at the home, Bro. Shakey. We look forward to visiting Bro. Ron again in the not too distant future!

Friendship Lodge #763 participated in the spring Broadway Our Way event on Saturday, April 1, 2026 including establishing an information booth in front of the lodge. The lodge supported by becoming a Front Porch sponsor for the event. Also, they provided lodge open house enabling the public to see the inside of the lodge while providing masonic information and popcorn during the visit. The lodge also sold their spring gun raffle tickets to interested visitors.

Bro. Michael Talbott, WM;, Bro. Peter Hedges, SW; and Bro. Dan Messner, Steward; attended an America 250 celebration in Halifax, NC on Saturday, April 11, 2026. The key attraction was a copy of the original Halifax Resolves document that was on-hand for viewing. The vote on the Resolves was taken on April 12, 1776. The date appears on the NC State flag. We encourage all who are able to visit Halifax, NC expecially this year to do so. A trip to Halifax, NC would ntob be complete without a visit to the Royal White Heart Lodge #2 and the burial site of Bro. Joseph Montfort.
