Dawn Ludwig has devoted her career to helping people discover the fun, beauty, and delicious taste of natural foods. Her experience training chefs and working with individuals, families, and health care practitioners has taught her what works, what doesn’t, and most importantly, how to make living and eating healthier a practical reality. Dawn’s latest project, with her husband Dr. David Ludwig, is the new book Always Hungry? Conquer Cravings, Retrain Your Fat Cells, and Lose Weight Permanently where she translates his science into comprehensive recipes, menu plans, and tips for applying the principles to everyday life.

Dawn Ludwig has devoted her career to helping people discover the fun, beauty, and delicious taste of natural foods. For 15 years, she owned and directed The Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts of Austin, Texas, recognized as a one of the top “Cutting Edge Cuisine” cooking schools in the U.S., according to Vegetarian Times (December 2000). In addition to training up-and-coming chefs, Dawn’s passion is guiding families to incorporate better foods into their everyday lives. With a 17-year old daughter and a 7-year old son, she has first-hand experience as a busy mother and business owner putting delicious and nutritious food on the dinner table. Her 20 years of experience working with culinary students, teachers, patients and health care practitioners has taught her what works, what doesn’t, and most importantly, how to work with families to make living healthier a practical reality. Dawn has now teamed up with her husband, Dr. David Ludwig on his new book Always Hungry? Conquer Cravings, Retrain Your Fat Cells, and Lose Weight Permanently. She helped translate his science and years of research into comprehensive recipes, menu plans, and tips for applying the principles to everyday life. Dawn has written on nutrition and health for a variety of publications including Whole Health Magazine, Natural Home, Austin Monthly, Austin Fit, and other health journals. Having experienced profound healing in her own life through the power of natural foods, Dawn has a deeply personal understanding of the maxim: “Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food.” With a gentle, yet powerful approach, she is able to touch and transform the lives of people of all ages, and in all states of health. Dawn presently resides in Brookline, MA where she works and enjoys making great food for her family.

I like that this shows the research on the effectiveness AND a simple, practical how-to guide. One of the benefits of AH is that we can separate what was biological hunger and what was emotional eating. Some people find that some or all of what they thought was emotional eating was more tied to biological hunger than they realized. Once the body is on our side, we can actually tackle the emotional eating that still gets in our way. It’s a liberating journey.

Have you tried the tortilla recipe from the latest newsletter? It's Keto- and AH-friendly and so much more like a tortilla than socca. It's soft and flexible (and stays that way even in the fridge), and it's absolutely easy as well as delicious. This is one of those recipes that still amazes me! I'm so proud of this one. Needed finger foods for a party, so I modified the Red Pepper Ring Omelette recipe from ALWAYS DELICIOUS. Cut mini sweet peppers on cross section; placed the on a hot cast iron skillet brushed with oil; gently filled each with an egg, garlic, and spinach mixture (of course blended with the immersion blender - so easy); cooked for a few minutes then put into the broiler to finish the tops. Served with Lemon Aioli from ALWAYS DELICIOUS. These were dairy-free but would be great with some grated cheese added to the egg batter or melted on top at the end. #chefdawnludwig #alwayshungrybook #alwaysdelicious #fingerfood
