The energy of the city keeps moving through September at Ace Brooklyn.

Labor Day weekend belongs to the Lobby. and kick things off on Friday and Saturday, followed by .Kotch on Sunday — a full-scale celebration of Caribbean food, rum and sounds featuring , , and friends.

Then, .us takes over with a end-of-summer soiree, while Hip Replacement Live brings Ben Dietz () and Kyle Raymond Fitzpatrick’s beloved show to Ace with special guest exploring contemporary culture through the perspectives of Gen X, Y and Z. hosts an afternoon tea leaf and tarot reading inspired by her brand-new book, "Food Is a Feeling," and transforms the Lobby for a Sensorium Party.

Artist in Residence ’s "It Can Happen…Still Time to Try" is on view in the Gallery all month. Through collage and speculative world-building, the exhibition considers how Black life might inhabit and reshape the landscapes, architectures and ecologies of the future.

We kick things off with "It Can Happen…Still Time to Try," a new exhibition by Artist in Residence in collaboration with .t.roane and . Drawing from poet and activist June Jordan’s radical thinking, the exhibition considers Black relationships to land, property and the built environment, and asks what more abundant, collective ways of living might still be possible.

Elsewhere this month, .nyc leads a World Photo Day photo walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, and × take over the Lobby for a night of dominoes, conversation and music.

We are pleased to present "It can Happen…Still Time to Try", an exhibition by in collaboration with J.T. Roane (.T.Roane), and Jona Alexander (), as part of our 2026 Artist-in-Residence program (A!R) presented by Ace Hotel Brooklyn × .

It can Happen…Still Time to Try extends both a reminder and an invitation for us to think more abundantly about collective relationships to land. Borrowed from June Jordan’s proposal for her unpublished novel OKAY NOW, this exhibition showcases a multimedia suite of recordings, films, and collages that gesture toward a [Black] built environment liberated from the dark histories and ongoing harms of property.

Merging their respective practices in a first-time collaboration, Hackett, Roane, and Alexander spent the monthlong residency gathering resources from their personal libraries, interviewing peers, and documenting real-world land stewardship efforts in Brooklyn. Ultimately, the exhibition seeks to be in dialogue with June Jordan’s career as a spatial thinker, as well as the everyday cultural practices that shape Black landscapes.
