This is not far from Herrick Rd...I've always loved this house.

The house has fascinated passersby for years and many have wondered what it must look like inside. Well, it's not as bad as you would think!

Here’s what Michelle wrote about Herrick Rd.

“Great place, very spacious, neat books and games and trinkets in the house. The family has amazing music taste - we spent all weekend playing John McLaughlin Trio, Grateful Dead, and Morphine on the stereo. We had some trouble with the heating in two of the bedrooms initially, but Peter was very responsive and sent over a maintenance guy within a couple hours who fixed it right up. Fantastic view from the house, great porch that makes for a lovely breakfast spot. Had a fantastic experience here! ”

Here’s what Nicola wrote about Herrick Rd

“We had a relaxing short break at Peter's gorgeous home. The house is fully furnished and well equipped with so much space. I enjoyed baking with the old stove and the kids had such fun playing on the tree swings. Easy check in and out and good communication. We would definitely stay here again. ”

A WEDDING!!!? What a great review and so wonderful!!

“Hi Peter. We had such a nice stay, thanks for making the house available. My husband and I had such a small ceremony that originially we had planned to have the service at the jps house but once we arrived at the farmhouse we decided to just do it at the house because the grounds were so pretty. We got married in the lower field between two apple trees......it was perfect! We really hope to be able to come back next year at the same time to celebrate our one year anniversary! Thanks again.”

Review of the Week:

“I couldn't recommend Pete's farmhouse enough. The antique stove & the weber grill on the porch were a great pair to cook on, perfect for blueberry pancakes and grilled lobsters. The breezy rooms, the big porch, the outdoor shower (that i used even in the rain!), it was all so great. Peter too did a wonderful job taking care of our needs, swapping out a defunct coffeemaker almost immediately, answering our email inquires promptly. It's clear he cares about his guests having a lovely vacation. Thank you Peter!”

Great Review:
We arrived at Peter & family's charming farmhouse and found it to be just that! A beautiful view of Walker's pond, and wonderful lay of the land. The house was cozy and felt like going home each day after exploring the Blue Hill peninsula. The kitchen was nicely equipped, easy to cook in. Stove was beautiful and fun to cook on. And a Webber outside to boot, made for great grilling. The house was very comfortable, lots of rooms to choose to relax in. Beds were very comfortable as well, supplying a great nights sleep!
All in all a wonderful stay at the charming farmhouse
Thanks!

My family enjoyed a wonderful week in Peter and Miquette's classic Maine farmhouse. The nuts and bolts that people want to know: The house was very clean, the beds were comfortable, we had extra blankets, plenty of towels, the kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and cooking supplies, the vintage stove was intimidating at first glance but couldn't be easier to use. The stove might be my favorite part of the house; I want it for my house... Or maybe the outdoor shower with a lake view? There is something about feeling sunshine on your face, a gentle breeze, and birds flitting around when you're showering. Pretty magical. Because the shower got a lot of sunshine it wasn't scary, moldy, or spidery like these spaces can be. The yard was fun to play on, and a nice lawn to go barefoot. The field area was lit every night with hundreds of fireflies- natures fireworks! More magic!

Plenty of parking. We had bikes, kayaks, canoes, etc. and used a covered parking spot to store all of this stuff. The porch was a great place to hang out in the shade and the deck was the place to be for morning coffee. We saw a fox, deer, and a skunk from our safe perch on the deck.

The house is not on the pond but you do have a lovely view. We found the long access road and made our way to the sweet beach area. The pond was clean, clear, sandy bottomed and a GREAT place for little kids to adults to swim and splace. A super gradual slope, no drop off. Clean outhouse and a place to put in your kayak or motor boat. This abuts conservation land with a huge field of wild blueberries you can pick.

We were able to run, walk and bike on the road the house is on. It's a bit hilly but a good workout. Not a lot of traffic but cars go fast. It all worked out as drivers were considerate of people not in cars.

We have stayed in the area before but found Brooksville, and to house to be our favorite location. We were about 2 miles from the Deer Isle bridge that takes you to the lovely Stonington, and close to Brooklin, Blue Hill, Cape Rossier, an hour to Acadia and Bar Harbour, Sedgwick, etc. so many nooks and crannies to explore and enjoy. We tried several local restaurants and were so happy we did. Try Tinder Hearth for pizza and El El Frijoles for Mexican. Both were excellent.

My only caveat is I wish the house had more bandwidth. Even though vacation should be unplugged I did need to connect in a bigger way than just email. I, of course, just went to town so not a crisis but just a FYI.

We will return to this house. It was perfect for our vacation in every way.
