The Carson House was originally built by Richard Brown, the founder of Brownville, and later became the home of John L. Carson, an early Nebraska banker, in 1864. The home is included on the National Register of Historic Places, and many original furnishings still remain inside.

Rose Carson later left the home to the Brownville Historical Society in 1966, helping preserve it for future generations.

It’s a wonderful reminder of Brownville’s rich river-town history and the people who helped shape southeast Nebraska.
