I’m starting to put a few rooms together so that we can stay at the hotel when we’re working up there instead of commuting from the cabin each day. Kind of excited to be seriously contemplating a sleepover soon!

The last couple days have been a little frustrating if I’m 100% honest. I came up thinking I could prime and paint the lobby in 2 days and as with everything thus far at The Historic MacArthur all good plans have a detour or 4 and everything takes twice as long and costs twice as much as I thought it would. I feel like a wise man told me to expect that. 😉

So….the unexciting update is that after 2 days and hundreds of nail holes filled, sanding, wiping, and priming this one wall out the four twice, I found the right primer so the NEXT time I’m up I can prime and paint the lobby. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ 🥃

That said…I did bring up some of the furniture finds Annie and I bought down south and I scored a trolley full of folding chairs from Junk Yard Jed and that was a great find!

One thing that has shocked me in the best way is how many people have joined me on this journey and shared their stories and personal connections to The Historic MacArthur Hotel.

Yesterday, Marlana sent me this newspaper clipping she found in some things her Grandma had left her. The date is missing, but I’m sure someone remembers this or we can find out when it was.

Today the lawn has a big lump where this tree was but other than that everything is remarkably intact. Crazy how close this could have been to disaster!
