Big Bear Lake Camplands

Several of our bath houses were damaged sometime during the early morning hours today. The bath houses affected are:

Bath House #22
Bath House #26
Bath House #35
Bath House #40
Bath House #41
Bath House #45

At this time, all six bath houses have been locked and are closed to the public while we assess the damage and begin making repairs. Our maintenance crews are working to make the necessary repairs, and we will reopen the bath houses as soon as they are safe and ready for use.

Based on the condition of the facilities, we believe the damage occurred sometime between approximately 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. this morning.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

If you saw anything unusual during this time, including vehicles, individuals, or activity near any of these bath houses, please contact the Big Bear Lake office. Even information that may seem insignificant could help us determine what happened.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the identification of the person or persons responsible for this damage.

Please do not confront or approach anyone you believe may be involved. Instead, report the information to the office so it can be properly investigated.

We appreciate everyone's help in protecting our community and its facilities. These bath houses are here for the use and enjoyment of all Big Bear Lake property owners, and damage to them affects everyone.

Prodigi Fiber Project 8/19/2026

The pole replacement project has now moved into the Aleutian Territory and is expected to remain there through September. Work will continue Monday through Thursday.

During this phase of the project, crews will temporarily disconnect power to the transformer serving only the road where they are actively working. Power is expected to be restored by the end of each workday.

Aleutian has several high-voltage repairs that need to be completed. When crews are working on the high-voltage lines, we anticipate the power to the surrounding area to be temporarily shut off. You can expect all power in Aleutian to be off at times. Work crews will try to minimize these outages and will have all power restored by 5:00 each day. We will provide additional information as we receive it.

During this phase of the project, crews will temporarily disconnect power to the transformer serving only the road where they are actively working. Power is expected to be restored by the end of each workday. Some high-voltage work in this area will need to be completed. We anticipate all power in the area to be off when working on the high line.

Important Information – Power Outage Update
Power has been restored to all areas of the camplands as of approximately 12:00 a.m.
Our power provider, FirstEnergy, was able to temporarily repair a faulty device that limits the amount of power their service line can carry. Once that repair was completed, we were able to re-energize the affected areas of the camplands. We also reopened the comfort stations that had been closed during the outage. Our cleaning crews will be inspecting and servicing those facilities as soon as possible this morning.
We understand the inconvenience and hardship this outage has caused our property owners and guests, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.
We also recognize that it can be frustrating and confusing to understand why some areas continue to have power while others do not, or why the electrical service cannot simply be upgraded.
It is important to understand that Alyeska Inc. does not own or control the power lines that supply electricity to Big Bear Lake Camplands. We own and maintain the electrical distribution system inside the camplands, but the amount of power available to us is determined by the service provided by FirstEnergy.
Because we are limited by the capacity of FirstEnergy's service, Alyeska cannot increase the amount of power available within the camplands. For this same reason, we cannot provide 50-amp electrical service to campsites, as doing so would significantly increase demand and make these power shortages even more severe.
FirstEnergy's system includes fuses and other protective devices that limit the amount of electrical power that can be delivered to the camplands. For more than 20 years, we have repeatedly requested that FirstEnergy upgrade its service to provide the reliable electrical capacity needed, particularly during busy holiday weekends. While they have installed several temporary measures over the years to help us get by, a permanent solution will require replacing the existing service lines with larger conductors capable of carrying the additional electrical load.
We will continue working with FirstEnergy and advocating for these much-needed improvements. We will also continue to keep property owners informed as additional information becomes available.

Important Information – Power Outage Update

Approximately one-third of Big Bear Lake Camplands is currently without electrical service.

Our power provider, FirstEnergy, has crews on site working to restore power. They have determined that the incoming service line is currently unable to handle the electrical demand. At this time, it is unclear when power will be fully restored, and it is also uncertain whether the remaining two phases of service will continue to support the current load.

We ask everyone to help reduce the demand on the electrical system by turning off any unnecessary lights, air conditioners, and appliances whenever possible. Your cooperation may help stabilize the system while FirstEnergy works to resolve the issue.

We understand the inconvenience and hardship this outage is causing our property owners and guests, and we appreciate your patience.

Please note that the comfort stations located in the affected area are also without water due to the power outage. Once electrical service is restored, our staff will begin cleaning and reopening these facilities as quickly as possible.

Our local FirstEnergy lineman has contacted company management to develop a temporary plan to restore service. We will share additional updates as soon as we receive them.

Happy Holiday Campers!! Due to the forecasted extreme heat advisory, I am hoping that this plan helps the Big Bear Store Ice Cream line run a little smoother and faster.

Soft serve CHOCOLATE will only be available today, July 2nd, and Sunday.
We are filling the machine with vanilla ONLY for Friday, July 4th and 5th.
We have made dozens of 8oz containers of CHOCOLATE to serve and sell at a discounted $3 a container.

Details of the Position:
You will serve as both a public relations representative for the campland by interacting with the public and presenting the company, the campland, and the rest of the security crew in a professional and respectful manner, as well as ensuring the safety and wellbeing of property owners and their guests; however, they are not limited and could at times require a variety of roles.

Seasonal - However with a well-rounded skill set this has the potential of becoming a full-time position.

Average 3-5 days per week.

Qualifications/Requirements - must be able to perform continuous physical activity at a reasonably fast pace, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting and carrying (at least 40 pounds). Typical duties include working at the front gate, patrolling, responding to emergencies, interacting with the public to provide guidance in a variety of areas, and conducting yourself in a lawful, safe, and responsible manner while doing so.

A driver’s license is required and needs to be maintained to be insurable.

On-site transportation is provided.

However, must have own reliable transportation to and from the work site.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Subject: Upcoming Looper Inchworm Treatment – Spring Application
We are scheduled to spray for the looper inchworm infestation beginning Monday, May 18, starting at approximately 5:30 a.m. The worms are rapidly hatching and have begun feeding on newly emerged leaves.
The application will be performed by a low-flying helicopter and is expected to be completed by mid-day. The product being used is Foray 48B, a targeted microbial insecticide. Foray is not a chemical insecticide. It is a biological product derived from a naturally occurring bacteria and is considered one of the safest and most effective options available for controlling forest-defoliating caterpillars.
Foray is non-toxic to mammals, birds, fish, and beneficial insects, including honey bees. It is also approved for use in certified organic food production. The product only affects caterpillars after they consume treated leaves.
Although Foray is considered a very low-risk product, direct exposure may cause mild temporary skin or eye irritation. These effects are reversible with normal washing. To minimize any potential exposure, owners, guests, and pets should remain indoors during the application and until the spray has fully dried, which typically does not take long.
As a general precaution, please:
• Keep windows and doors closed during the application
• Turn off HVAC or ventilation systems that draw outside air into your RV or home
• Store or cover any items you do not want exposed to spray
• Wash off any exposed outdoor items if desired
If you have concerns regarding exposure or personal safety, we recommend leaving the property until the application has been completed.
