Bryson City got the most snow we've had in a long time Friday night into Saturday afternoon. I measured 8 inches here but there is even more in the higher elevations! Did you get snow where you are? Let's see those snow pics and totals in the comments.

This is so sad. This is why moving, removing or stacking rocks in the creek is prohibited. 😔

The Smokies are home to North America’s largest salamander. Most visitors never see one.

In late summer, eastern hellbenders quietly lay hundreds of eggs beneath cold mountain rocks.

Recently, the National Park service reporting finding one crushed beneath a rock pile stacked by visitors near a stream.

These gentle giants need oxygen-rich water and undisturbed shelter to survive. When you move or stack stones, you could unknowingly destroy a nest—or kill an animal outright.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park just launched a multi-year mission to protect these creatures. You can help too:

Check out this brown trout one of our campers caught in the campground this past weekend! At 21" it's the biggest trout we've seen caught in our park.

Caught my personal best trout today at Deep Creek campground tubing center on 4/12/25. I've trout fished my entire life & grew up in Flat Creek/Barnardsville NC. It measured 21" long & im guessing 5lb. It's getting mounted. So I'll post pics of the mount after it's done.
