From Our ER:

Thank you everyone that willingly has
volunteered much of their time to the
functions of the Lodge. We had a lot of
participation with the placement of the flags
along with the preparation and marching in
the Ken-Ton Parade for Memorial Day
Weekend.
Looking ahead we will kick off our
Summer Patio Series with "Rockin Robin"
June 12. at 6 pm. There will be a $5 cover
charge and food off the grill will be available
at a nominal cost. Also, that weekend will be
our annual Flag Day Ceremony June 14 at
12 noon. We will look forward to you joining
us that weekend.
We are still looking for ways of creating
an Elks friendly atmosphere where people
are welcome either by visiting us or
perhaps joining the Elks. We really hope
you can be a part of our Lodge. Since
becoming ER, many people have been
offering their ideas for adding things to our
objectives of operating under the "BPOE". I
strongly encourage everyone to offer their
ideas to us because your voice and ideas
are valuable to us. We have much work
and challenges ahead but I strongly feel
that if we work together as one team, we
will meet those challenges and become
stronger.

Flag Day
Did you know this holiday celebrated each year on June
14th commemorates the adoption of the flag of the
United States on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the
Second Continental Congress. ?

In 1916 Pres. Woodrow Wilson proclaimed June 14th as
the official date for Flag Day, and in 1949 the U.S.
Congress permanently established the date as National
Flag Day. Although Flag Day is not an official federal
holiday, Pennsylvania celebrates the day as a state
holiday. Each year the U.S. president delivers an address
that proclaims the week of June 14th as National
Flag Week, and all Americans are encouraged to fly U.S.
flags during that week.

Flag Day

We will hold our traditional Flag Day Ceremony
Saturday, June 14th at noon on our lodge patio. Formal
attire for officers. We hope you will be able to view this
very impressive ceremony. We will ask the girl scouts again
to help with the presentation of the flags. We will be
presenting a donation to Wings Flight of Hope.

Hotdogs and snacks will be served at the conclusion of the
ceremonies. Members, please bring a dish to pass.

Memorial Day

We had a wonderful turn out for the annual Kenmore
Memorial Day parade, over twenty three volunteers!
Because of this we were able to hand out over 1500 Drug
Awareness coloring books and crayons to the children
watching the parade.

A special thanks to Dennis Ertel for the use of his truck
and trailer.

At 3:00 pm we participated in Taps Across America, with
Talya Becker playing Taps on her Flute. She was excellent.
A special thank you also to all those helping with the setup.
