As we have a busy month ahead, we should
take pride in the things we have accomplished
these past six months. We have made a lot of
progress with much work still before us.

See all you "Cowgirls and Cowboys" come
and dance the night away Oct. 2 on our patio
for our "Country Music Night". Remember to
get your costumes ready for our
Halloween Party Oct.16. And don't forget our
Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser Oct. 24 from
4-7 p.m. If you would like to volunteer to set
up or help in serving or kitchen, please contact
either Lois Burns or Christa Donn.

October is "National Substance Abuse
Prevention”.Our district is having a poster,
video and essay contest for kids grades 3, 4
and 5 living in the West District wanting to
participate. All submissions must be turned
into David DeYoung of the Lancaster Lodge
no later than Feb.15. All submissions must
have the theme "A Healthy Me Is Drug Free”.

As part of "Drug Awareness" month, "Red
Ribbon" week is Oct.23-31. All are encouraged
to wear a red ribbon to display awareness.

Elks are developing a Youth program
named "The Antlers" for youth ages 12-20.
Youth volunteers will learn the principles of
Elkdom by practicing the principles of “Charity".
To form a group of “Antlers" there must be a
minimum of 15 youth with an Advisory Council
of five Elk members. For more info, visit the
"Activities Committee" section of Elks. org.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Because of the upcoming holidays (Thanksgiving
and Christmas) I am asking that all Super Bowl
squares be paid by Nov. 20th. I am only at the
Lodge on Fridays and most of the Sunday Bills
games. However you can put your payment in a
sealed envelope with your name on it and give it
to the bartender who will then give it to me. If
you have decided not to keep your squares,
please let me know by Oct 9th. Thank you very
