From a blueprint on a paper bag to life deep underground! πŸ“œβ›οΈ
​When C. S. β€œPappy” Woods arrived in the 1940s ahead of the Bull Shoals Dam project, he saw endless potential in these hills. He purchased over a thousand acres, famously sketched out the original town layout of Bull Shoals on the back of a brown paper bag, and laid the cornerstone for the vibrant community we love today.
​Alongside fellow developer and community visionary Roy Danuser, Pappy didn’t just build a town on the surfaceβ€”they went underground.
​Pictured here are Roy Danuser (left) and C. S. Woods (right) in the late 1950s, covered in dust and mud as they did the heavy, pioneering work of transforming the ancient Bull Shoals Caverns into a show cave before officially opening its doors in 1960.
