Summer has officially begun in Bullhead City, bringing increased traffic as visitors come from across the country to enjoy the beautiful Colorado River. With parking fees starting for the season, hereโ€™s what you need to know before your next trip to Community Park.

Bullhead City Residents:
Bullhead City residents can access Community Park and its beaches year-round at no charge. Simply show your driverโ€™s license to the park attendant, and enjoy your day on the river!

Local Area Residents:
Residents of Fort Mohave, Mohave Valley, Laughlin, and Needles can purchase a $35 season pass for Community Park during the 2026 summer season. After you show your driverโ€™s license, a park attendant will guide you through the process of purchasing your season pass.

Non-Residents:
Non-residents will be charged a $25 parking fee to enter Community Park. This fee is valid for one-time entry only, so visitors are encouraged to bring what they need before entering the park. Donโ€™t forget to visit the Bullhead Belle for lunch on the river, or stop by the River Shop (opening soon) for last-minute outdoor essentials.

All funds generated by parking fees are reinvested in City parks and amenities. These funds help support improvements and ongoing maintenance, keeping our parks clean, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone who uses them.

On Tuesday, July 29, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation will temporarily reduce water releases from Davis Dam, resulting in significantly lower water levels along the Colorado River in Bullhead City. This reduction will occur between approximately 3 a.m. and 12 p.m.

In response, the City of Bullhead City will waive all parking fees at Bullhead City Community Park on Tuesday. This measure ensures that no visitors pay for river access while expecting typical water conditions.

The City encourages all river users to plan ahead. The lower water levels may expose sandbars, rocks, debris, and other underwater hazards that are normally submerged. Boaters, jet skiers, and swimmers should use caution during this period and consider delaying recreational activity until flows return to normal.

The City also urges riverfront property owners to take advantage of the exposed riverbanks to clean around their docks, seawalls, and shoreline areas. Removing organic buildup and debris during low water helps reduce caddisfly larvae and pupae, which contribute to nuisance insect outbreaks during warmer months.

This temporary flow adjustment is part of an ongoing cooperative effort between the City of Bullhead City, the Bullhead Pest Abatement District, the Bureau of Reclamation, Clark County, and local scientists to study caddisfly abatement.

Residents can view real-time Davis Dam water release schedules at: https://ayrs.io/M1MG4w.

More information about ongoing Caddisfly abatement efforts, including details about low flow events, can be found at the Bullhead City Pest Abatement District's Website, https://ayrs.io/JBpqOC.

End of summer parking fees for all Bullhead City Parks from now, September 17, 2023 until April 2024.

End of summer parking fees for all Bullhead City Parks from now, September 17, 2023 until April 2024.

The City of Bullhead City is announcing the end of summer season parking fees. Beginning Sunday, September 17, and lasting through April, visitors from all over can drive into and park in Bullhead City Community Park without paying. Parking in the north parking lot at the family fun zone will also be free beginning September 17.

โ€œWe had a great summer season. We had a lot of busy weekends and made memorable impressions upon thousands of visitors we look forward to seeing again next year,โ€ said Bullhead City Manager Toby Cotter. โ€œNow is the time for us to transition our focus on our community events and activities.โ€

Cotter stated all revenue made from parking fees is put directly back into new amenities in the park. He pointed out recent improvements, including the family fun zone, new splash pad, Bullhead Belle, new bridge/culvert to access the south beach, commercial boat launch, expanded beaches, and artificial turf - all totaling more than $4 million.

The season transition marks the first opportunity since the opening of the Bullhead Belle for those living outside of Bullhead City limits to visit the new amenity without paying for parking.

โ€œIf you havenโ€™t visited the Belle yet, youโ€™re missing out,โ€ said Marketplace Manager Canden Stanely. โ€œOur patio has the best view of the Colorado River, and our food and beverages are amazing!โ€

Stanley also hinted at future surprises to bring guests to the Belle. โ€œWeโ€™re not announcing anything yet other than our intentions to make the Belle your favorite place to enjoy a bite to eat in Bullhead City.โ€

Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of free parking during the off-season and enjoy Bullhead Cityโ€™s parks.

โ€œThis is a great time of year to visit Bullhead City Parks,โ€ said Parks and Recreation Superintendent David Heath. โ€œItโ€™s still warm enough to enjoy some water activities, including our brand-new splash pad. Itโ€™s cool enough to enjoy an outdoor beach volleyball or basketball game, and thereโ€™s no better place to enjoy the outdoors than our parks.โ€
