Our sole cultural museum is undergoing a massive restoration project and handicap accessibility initiative.

This work, 10 years in the making and more than 30 years overdue, will allow every single visitor to the museum to experience the exact same thing. Our groups homes, senior independent and assisted living communities will all be able to fully experience everything the Brick Tavern has to offer.

This organization offer Walkin’, Talkin’, Readin’, and Teachin’ History! Programming throughout our community year round. They began working with the schools districts again, and in the next academic year hope to reach 75% of the school aged children through their programs.

Please, won’t you consider donating just a few dollars to keep Schuyler County’s history alive! It is a rich and truly amazing history that is too often overlooked.

Thanks!!

We are nearly there! Capital project construction will begin in late October, early November and we are looking to raise the last money needed to preserve the Brick Tavern Museum, and provide accessibility for all! Please consider donating!

****HAPPENING TODAY**** AT THE MONTOUR FALLS FIRE DEPARTMENT!

Join us this TODAY for another Talkin' History! presentation at the Montour Falls Fire Hall. This educator talk from the Erie Canal Museum, “Waterway of Change: Women and the Erie Canal,” will be presented by Elizabeth Farrell. Start time is 2:00 p.m.

The Erie Canal revolutionized Upstate New York, bringing new ideas, people, and industries to the region, sparking a firestorm of change. This presentation will cover how the fight for women’s rights grew out of the changes brought about by the Erie Canal and the movement’s dependence on networks that the Canal facilitated.

Elizabeth Farrell is the Assistant Director of Education & Public Programming at the Erie Canal Museum. She earned a BA and MA in history from the University of Vermont. Following the path of many New Englanders before her, Elizabeth came to New York seeking opportunity on the Canal.

As always, our Talkin' History series is FREE and open to everyone. For further information or any questions contact the museum at 607-535-9741.

If you are out and about today this will be a great event!!
