Working in partnership with Schuyler County officials, we have learned that today, Governor Hochul announced a “mask or vaccinate” mandate for all indoor public businesses and venues in the state effective Monday, December 13, 2021, through January 15, 2022. At that point, the current situation will be re-evaluated. If an indoor business or venue is open to the public, those responsible for the location must require that all entering have either received the COVID-19 vaccination or are wearing a mask. As we enter the holiday season, the coronavirus is becoming more concerning to our community. Since November 1, Schuyler County has experienced 5 COVID deaths and 569 more positive cases. In fact, more than 93% of those infected have shown symptoms, meaning they were sick to some extent.
We expect that the state will distribute additional guidance, which we will share as soon as it becomes available.
