As our nation prepares to celebrate America’s 250th Birthday, our community will be honoring local veterans through a Veterans Banner Program around the walking track.
Beginning this year before the 4th of July, commemorative veterans banners will be displayed around the walking track in honor of the brave men and women who have served our country.
This project is a way for our community to recognize and remember the sacrifices, dedication, and patriotism of our local veterans.
The banners will proudly hang from July 4th through Veterans Day this year. Beginning next year, the display season will run annually from Memorial Day through Veterans Day.
There are 13 poles located around the walking track, with banners displayed on both sides for a total of 26 available spots.
Program Details:
• Cost: $125 per banner, size 2 feet x 3 feet
• Full-color, one-sided banner
• Cost includes banner production and hardware/hanger
• Banners will remain displayed for two seasons
• During the second season, banners will be reversed to face the opposite direction for visibility and fairness
• After two seasons, the banner will be returned to the sponsor or family
This project is being completed strictly as a community tribute program. There is no profit being made by the city. After the initial two-year cycle, some banner hardware will be reusable, and any cost savings from future banner production will be distributed equally between the VFW and the American Legion to continue supporting local veterans initiatives.
We would also like to sincerely thank Tri-County Electric for approving this initiative and our local crew for assisting with the installation of the hangers and banners.
