Originally built as a Victorian farmhouse in 1890 by Edward S. Phelps, the home was remodeled in the 1920’s in a French cottage style. Situated high on a bluff, the outdoor deck and upper story balcony offer panoramic views of the Mississippi River valley. house suite won first place in the United States as Best Room Addition in Qualified Remodeler Magazine in 1997. Guests of the Iowa B&B Guild chose the Squirrel's Nest B&B, LLC as "The Most Scenic View in Iowa" for 2012. You can walk through the neighborhoods of the Historic North Hill District's Victorian mansions to numerous, downtown specialty and antique shops. You can relax and dine at a variety of fabulous, quality restaurants.
