Hiking teaches patience, resilience, and how long 0.5 miles can actually be.

What’s with all the math? Some might prefer to measure hiking distance in a more scientific way: ‘one more tree around the bend.’”

You do you.

Whether you’re looking for a short stroll, a scenic overlook, or a “why did I bring snacks but not more snacks?” kind of expedition, choose a trail that’s right for you. Take your time, remember things might look closer on the map, and if you’re not into trees as measurement, 0.5 miles is about 4,000 bananas laid end to end.

What are some of your favorite ways to measure a hike?
