52 Things To Do In The Area: Lake Cumberland Farmers Market π₯π»ποΈ
Waking up early and getting ready to head downtown is my weekend treat, especially when it means spending the morning at the Farmers Market.
Located on East Mt. Vernon Street next to The Charred Oak Grill and surrounded by many other great downtown businesses, the Citizens National Bank Pavilion is a wonderful community gathering place that supports local farmers, producers, and artisans while promoting environmental and economic sustainability. β€οΈ
Built in 2020, the pavilion has already hosted plenty of community events and gatherings over the years. When itβs not serving as the home of the farmers market, it also provides Somerset with a beautiful rentable event space that continues bringing people together downtown. πΆποΈ Of course, weather always plays a part in outdoor events, but having this spacious pavilion allows vendors to comfortably set up both indoors and outdoors throughout the year. πΏ
One of my favorite weekend stops in downtown Somerset, this market has such a welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive. Walking in and seeing the large bay doors open with vendors warmly inviting visitors into their booths immediately made me smile. Thereβs just something special about the smell of fresh baked goods, colorful produce displays, handmade crafts, and the steady buzz of people enjoying a Saturday morning together. βοΈ
What amazed me most was the incredible variety of vendors! Every visit feels a little different, which is part of what keeps me coming back. Some familiar booths may miss a weekend here and there, but thereβs never been a time Iβve left empty-handed. Whether itβs fresh produce π
, flowers π, local meats π₯©, cheeses π§, wine π·, handmade soaps π§Ό, delicious desserts πͺ, or beautifully crafted handmade items π¨, thereβs truly always something new to discover! π¨
Itβs also a wonderful place to shop for gifts. Many of the handmade items are truly one-of-a-kind, and I love that so many vendors make it easy to stay connected through business cards, QR codes, or social media links at their booths. One vendor that really stood out to me this visit featured handmade crochet figures, and they were absolutely astonishing. The amount of detail, creativity, and variety in each piece was incredible. π§Άβ¨
One of my favorite parts of visiting the market is getting to talk directly with the artists and makers themselves. Being able to ask questions, hear the stories behind their work, and gather their information for future purchases makes the experience feel even more personal and special.β€οΈ
As a Kentucky Proud Farmers Market, they are dedicated to showcasing products that are raised, grown, manufactured, or processed right here in Kentucky by hardworking Kentuckians. πΊπΈπ½
