π«ΆπΌ what a beautiful picture to represent our community!
Our friends over at Something Special Gift Shop sent us this amazing picture tonight.
It couldn't be more fitting. Could. Not. Be.
Our hearts have been full this week working towards The Old Timey Fall Festival . Truly.
We are so honored to be a part of this great event, and are very much looking forward to the weekend. We plan to create an amazing Harvest Stroll through our beautiful Town Square, and hope you can join us for a bit.
However, we also live here. We've lived here a long time. This is our home, and we plan to keep it that way. We have deep roots in these communities and we are committed to remaining strong. We raise our kids and grandkids here. Our parents and grandparents are here. The Aunts and Uncles and all the cousins.
We have stood with our neighbors, our family and our people....as the storm ravaged us all. It's been hard. I mean, the HARD side of hard. The every day has been hard. Seems like it's often 1 step forward, and a landslide backwards. You have to live here to truly understand that.
We are resilient. We are strong. We are steadfast in our desire to move forward and rebuild.
We are grateful beyond measure for the generosity of good people from all over this country. We are truly humbled by the love that has been shown to us. It has been so kind. So helpful. So needed.
The fight is real. The determination and grit it takes to survive this thing is a daily struggle.
But you know what?
We've made it! We've made it this far. We are going to keep on keeping on. Keep on digging deep. Keep on finding strengths we didnt know we had.
We will rest when we must. We will start over again when we need to. We will hug our friends a little tighter. (Actually, a lot tighter. We know what it's like to go through these things together.) Hugs make things easier.
We are stronger together. We are better, together. We are driven to get our peole back in their homes, businesses back on their feet and communities back to a safe placeβ€οΈ
The celebration is real for us this weekend. So is the trauma. The happiness is genuine. So is the panic, because it's raining again. The togetherness....it's solid. We love each other. We've been through it, together.
Through a LOT together.
There's much love that's been poured into our Main St Old Timey Days this year. Please know, it won't be the same as it's always been.
Close, but not exactly the same.
We aren't exactly the same. None of us.
We will do our best. Promise.
That's all we can really ask from anybody. Right?
Lynn Austin said it best tonight on Channel 13.
She said...just keep doing the next right thing. And then she said "Hang on. Better days are ahead. " Keep on keeping on, friends.
We are here for it!
Thankful for the rainbow.
Thankful for good friends, new and old.
Thankful for protection and provision from above.
Thankful we've made it!
