This morning I was again horribly woken by the sound and shaking of the earth moving. Thinking it was another landslide along the S Toe River Rd., I jumped out of bed to see a massive excavator moving along in my driveway.

Turns out DOT has sent out a crew to begin filling in the landslide beneath the road in front of the Robin’s home.

They’re beginning with the smaller slide where the utility pole was broken and replaced. Followed immediately by the much larger slide. Looks like we may have our two lane road back soon.

This was minutes after the landslide. Since it was only 50 yds. from my house, the sound woke me to see a 70 ft. poplar in the field behind the house where there wasn’t one the night before. The tree which was adjacent to my gravel road just beneath and parallel to the S Toe Rd. slid down upright and is now planted firmly in the field.

New and improved Roaring Fork Falls after the flash flooding. Trail is inaccessible half-way between second bunker and falls due to massive landslide from top of Big Ridge to the creek just below the trail. Do not attempt to visit falls unless fit and willing to cross large landslide field crisscrossed with massive trees and knee deep mud.
