long time obx people — when have you seen the water like this?

drop the village + year in the comments. i love hearing when people caught one of these days.

the gulf stream runs remarkably close to the outer banks and when the winds, currents and sediment all line up, our water can turn warm, clear and almost tropical.

today we swam, rainbow played, olivia caught a wave and for a little while the water looked like glass.

if you didn't know nc could look like this, now you do.

Buxton’s $50 Million Beach Project Sounds Insane… Until You See the Numbers.

A lot of people call beach nourishment “throwing money into the ocean.”

After looking at who is actually paying, how small the federal and state shares are relative to their budgets, and what this project protects, I’m not convinced that argument holds up.

So which side are you on: smart protection of Cape Hatteras National Seashore Buxton and NC 12, or $50 million thrown into the sea?

Some say the Outer Banks isn't worth the drive.

The crowds have grown.

Prices aren't what they used to be.

Maybe they're right.

But for some of us...
none of that matters.
Because we know what waits at the end of the road.

The first breath of salt air.
The quiet.
The long walks.
The moments that somehow slow time down.

This place isn't for everyone.
It's for the ones who keep coming back.

The Outer Banks never stands still.

Every storm, every tide, every season leaves its mark. Buxton is changing again, and I thought it was worth showing those of you who love this place as much as I do.
