These kids don’t even know how good they’ve got it out here…

Endless space, salt air, bikes in the yard, and a whole summer ahead of them.

We’re fired up for an awesome OBX season.
And it sounds like the permits are finally moving forward to restore the beach here in Buxton—which is going to be huge for both locals and visitors.

A beach back where it belongs.

59° and sunny, light winds… one of those clean Outer Banks days where it just feels right to be outside.

Surf is running chest to head high on an E/SE swell—semi-clean this morning with light north winds, trending cleaner this afternoon as winds go light south. Fun, organized conditions if you find the right break.

Fishing’s showing up too—slot drum at the point today 👀

Feels like everything’s waking back up.
Good day to be on the island.

It’s Friday, February 27th and Tower Circle is officially open for another Hatteras Island season.

If you’ve been dreaming about a simple adventure to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore — this is your sign.

Yes, parts of the oceanfront and lighthouse area are under construction…
But Buxton is still Buxton.

The trails are quiet.

If you don't know about tower circle motel it's a small little 11 room hotel as close as possible to the Cape Hatteras lighthouse in the heart of buxton.

So many people have reached out about Tower Circle Motel lately. We’re grateful it’s still standing strong — we’re about 450 ft from the oceanfront, and that distance has made all the difference. Some of our neighbors haven’t been as fortunate. It’s been hard on our community.

We speak up because we care about this place. Sometimes that brings negativity from people who don’t understand — and that’s okay. We’re not here for that energy.

We’re here for gratitude. For presence. For the joy of this God-given life that’s brief and beautiful.

Living on a sandbar teaches you something: Nothing is promised. So you enjoy what you have while you have it.

I don’t avoid posting the flood stuff to protect business — those posts actually get the most engagement.

The truth is, this stretch of sand was never truly valued for its beauty or ecology. It was propped up during wartime, when it served a purpose. Once the wars ended, the illusion of permanence faded. Now the ocean reclaims it, leaving behind toxic waste and the remnants of a coastline that was never meant to last.

But don’t mistake this as something unique to Hatteras. Every coast faces the same fate — this place is simply the tip of the spear for North America’s east coast. Consider it a preview of what’s to come. Be careful how you judge it, because this isn’t just collapse — it’s an opportunity to adapt, to rethink, and to learn before the rest of the shoreline follows.
