We are a family run campground and general store with much to offer! We have over 70 beautiful sites to camp in, including 2 fully stocked cabins. We can accommodate everything from a small tent to a 40 foot RV, and everything in between!

Fall has certainly been putting on a show here in western Maine! 🍁

With the mountains full of color and the weekend weather looking promising (especially Saturday!), it's a great opportunity to squeeze in one last camping trip.

Our camping season wraps up Monday, October 12, so this is the final weekend to enjoy Coos Canyon before we close the campground for the season.

And for campers staying Sunday night into Monday, we're offering a complimentary late checkout! Just arrange your checkout time with the office so you can enjoy a little more time at Coos Canyon before heading home.

Our 2026 camping season comes to a close Monday, October 12, and there are still campsites available for the long weekend.

The leaves are putting on quite a show, the days are cool, and the nights are just right for a campfire. If you've been thinking about one more camping trip before winter, this is it.

There’s something about a cool fall night that makes sitting around the campfire just a little harder to leave. 🔥

And if you’re hoping to fit in one more camping trip this year, there’s one last long weekend to do it.

Our 2026 camping season wraps up after Columbus Day weekend, with our final night Sunday, October 11 and checkout Monday, October 12. That leaves one more chance for a fall weekend at Coos Canyon—days spent exploring western Maine, evenings around the fire, and some of the best color of the season happening all around us.

October has a way of making a warm cabin feel just a little more inviting. 🍂

The days are still perfect for getting outside—hiking, exploring the back roads, riding the trails or simply enjoying the fall color around western Maine. But when the sun starts to drop and the air gets cooler, having a warm cabin waiting for you is pretty nice.

There’s something about seeing western Maine from the miles of ATV trails that makes a fall day even better. 🍂

We headed out on the Bemis/South Arm Loop this weekend, and one of the things we enjoy most about riding here is being able to leave right from Coos Canyon Campground. No trailering the machines somewhere else—just leave your campsite and ride.

From there, the Bemis/South Arm Loop takes you on roughly 43 miles of trail through the woods, past mountain views and some pretty incredible scenery. And with many more miles of trail to explore throughout the area, you can make a day of it in just about any direction. This time of year, the fall color makes the ride that much better.

And around here, you never know who might show up along the trail.

Sometimes the best part of a hike is simply stopping for a minute and taking in where it brought you.

This was our view Wednesday at Tumbledown Pond. Fall color is really starting to take hold across the mountains, and over the next couple of weeks, western Maine is only going to get more colorful.

There are plenty of adventures waiting just beyond the campground—and this is a pretty good time of year to go find them. 🍂

Yesterday, we got to see fall from a little different perspective. 🍂

Cheri and I hiked Tumbledown, and from up high you could really see just how differently the season is moving across western Maine.

Look in one direction and the hillsides are already showing quite a bit of red, orange and yellow. Turn around and look the other way, and there’s still considerably more green. Same hike. Same afternoon. Completely different stages of fall depending on which direction you’re looking.

This week’s Maine Foliage Report puts our area in the moderate range, and after seeing it from Tumbledown, that feels about right. The change is definitely underway, but there’s still plenty more to come.

The change has started. 🍂

Just a week ago, we were sharing photos from past fall seasons and saying the color wasn’t here quite yet. Well, it’s beginning to show up.

This was the view from Turk Mountain looking toward Tumbledown yesterday. There’s still plenty of green across the hills, but more reds and yellows are starting to work their way into the landscape—and it seems like we’re noticing a little more color each day.

We’re still early, but fall is definitely on the move here in western Maine. Over the next couple of weeks, this view should look very different.

We’ll keep sharing the change as it happens.

We had a little something happening behind the scenes at Coos Canyon this summer… 🎥

Vanessa from Your Maine Concierge , Hannah and the MaineLife crew spent some time with us exploring the campground, the Swift River and, of course, trying their hand at a little gold panning.

Being in front of a camera definitely doesn’t come naturally to either Cheri or me, but they made it a lot of fun!

Tomorrow, Sunday, September 20, we finally get to see how it all came together!

We’re not here quite yet…but it’s coming. 🍂

These photos were taken at different points during past fall seasons here at Coos Canyon. Swipe through and you’ll see the change—from those first hints of red and orange to campsites surrounded by fall color.

Right now, we’re still in the early stages. But over the next couple of weeks, the landscape around us will begin changing quickly.

So if you’ve been thinking about a fall camping trip, don’t wait until we’re posting photos of peak color to start making your plans. The color may not be here yet, but if you want to camp in the middle of it, now is the time to find your site.
